RalCoania ... bots or members?

For a little while when we started with the intro posts I copied them down to one of the open forums. Only thing is, a majority of people seem to go to all the trouble of registering and then either never posting - or never coming back at all. So I quit. There are a few old 'introduce yourself' threads around if any wants to resurrect them. The mod here isn't terribly strict about zombie threads.

Speaking of the introductory post, an other forum I have frequented had one of those as part of the regular forum and new members were encouraged to introduce them selfs there. It was quite nice as you got to know people a bit faster and the newbies felt welcome.

But it would perhaps be unorthodox to try such a thing here when you have the other intro-post as well.

We suddenly had a huge lot of new members the other day all called RalCoaniamoca360, 520, and so on. Are they bots or real members or something else?

They're bots, I'm sure. And the reason why you had to do the introductory post and wait for DougO to upgrade you. Before we set up that system I was deleting/banning upwards of 300 spam posts per day! Now there's maybe 5 or six who post to the introduction forum per day and that's all I have to deal with, thank goodness!

If only they would use their powers for good...
