Why am I not allowed to post?

Is the exact message "binaries are not allowed"? I have searched the board source code but can't find that message. Does the message display in a popup or on a forums web page?

I've tried to post twice, and I get a message telling me that my message cannot be posted because "binaries are not allowed". What does that mean? What is a binary?
