New Site Questions - Introductions and Active Members

I noticed a couple of things about the new site.

1. The "Introductions" board seems to have disappeared. I know it was migrated over from the old site, but in the last few days it seems to have disappeared. Perhaps it was temporarily removed because DougO is working on some new anti-spam initiative?

2. I note at the bottom of home page it says: "Members: 93,808 Active Members: 2,152" I'm curious what the definition of an "Active Member" is.

1 - DougO made the Introductions forum less visible pending his installation of the new spam-reduction measures that the new version can offer. We're hoping to eliminate the necessity at some point. Though I love how effective it's been!!

2 - DougO would probably know more than I do but it may have to do with the number of posters who've ever actually posted. Especially when it comes to 'bots', lots of...shall we say, entities... who register never post.

1 - Yes, I figured that was the case.

2 - I thought it might have something to do how recently they've posted, e.g., people who have posted in the last year. It seems that a lot of "entities" got purged during the migration. I believe there were something like 275,000 "members" on the old site.

I plan to spend some time this weekend looking through the anti-spam options and research which might work best. There are some very promising looking options available.

I had started looking at these after Thanksgiving but then got sidetracked with other work. Thanks for reminding me to get back to this. -DougO
