    NotSoWize,

Just to let you know, I've sent DougO a message about the archives running behind. Every once in a while the program that checks for new posts decides that it wants personal attention.

    Thanks,

    Jan

    New JMS post(s) missing?

Judging by what I've read here, there is an automatic program that is supposed to upload JMS posts from the newsgroup to JMS News. It seems to have missed a reply that Joe made to a question from Jan a couple days ago. The post was regarding Joe's decision to direct B5:TLT (Jan might even have gotten that question from one of my posts here!) The thread is titled "JMS: Why direct B5:TLT?" and was begun on 8/21/06

There is also a post regarding the slight delay in the latest script book that contains some pretty good B5:TLT info from JMS. It was posted by "Iva" on 8/21/06 and is titled "Update from Cafe Press/JMS"

    Just an FYI . . .

    Hmm,

Don't know what the problem is ... it worked for me. THe CP says that the max size is 100 x 100 pixels, and/or 19.5KB.

I would guess the first one is just too big. The others, I don't know. As you can see I saved the fourth version from your post and uploaded it as my own avatar without any problems.

    Avatar Troubles

I have been trying to change my avatar and having a hell of a time.

First I did a redirect URL to Photobucket

    the file was too large

So, I sized it down to 100pixels at it's largest.

Then it was not a valid JPEG, GIF, or PNG file.

I tried sizing it smaller. Now it is tiny and I still can't load it up. I've tried saving it four different ways now and none seem to work. Any suggestions?

    Here are the attempts:
    1st

    2nd

    3rd

    Last

Any smaller and the image will not be visible. How is it that some users are able to save such large avatars? Is that some sort of bonus privlidge for people who have been posting here a while? Or maybe I just have avatar envy

I have visited the Lurkers Guide "way back when", but I was not aware that they had JMS remarks for each episode. That could be very handy indeed!

    Thanks Jan

Just to make sure...are you familiar with the Lurker's Guide? Many of JMS's post regarding specific episodes have been sorted there. It's a *great* resource!

Yes, you can usually figure out what he is referring too, but not always. Right now I am reading the posts during the pre-production period on the series and am slowly making my way through them all. I am thinking about watching an episode and then reading the reaction posts when I get to the point that B5 is "on the air." I think that will work almost like getting a JMS commentary track for every episode.

First time I have ready any of the Archives and am finding them interesting. I guess I will have to start at the beginning and read them all. Maybe a good time would be in the fall or winter as it is 100 degrees in my place. Thanks Doug.

    Early years missing posts?

I am just wondering about the "blank spots" as far as JMS posts back in the early 90's. I'm really enjoying reading all about the pre-production days on The Gathering, but there must be a bunch of missing posts from July and October of 1992 and a bunch of early 1993. I haven't found any info on these "missing posts" in the FAQ. Are all of those posts gone forever?

Well, as Ranger has commented, I seem to live here so, yes, I've seen the same thing for some time now. It seems that if I spend a little time on that thread, the program recognizes that I've read the thread but when I flash in and out, it doesn't have time. It doesn't bother me overmuch and if it does, I just hit the 'Mark all posts as read' link.
