Help! I've lost my avatar

I found a cool new avatar and tried to use the 'Edit Avatar' link. I got my old one off but can't figure out how to upload the new one. Is it me (probably...)?

There's no option to upload an avatar on my screen. It looks like:

Your Current Avatar

No Avatar Specified Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
Do not use an avatar (this is a radio button I can't deselect)
Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it.

ROFL! Okay...hmmm...the first idea I had didn't work once it was shrunk to 100 by 100...Cornholio thinks I'm avatar-jumping (though I've always had it...), cute kittens are obviously out. Flowers might have somebody thinking I'm 'sniffing things'...

So, also being short on sleep, I think there's only one thing to do. I'll take this over to 'off-topic' and ask for suggestions. Let's see what the population can come up with for me. (I'm afraid...I'm very afraid...)
