                Coming in Late on this (so what else is new) but was re-reading the book recently. The chapter that mentions the Missing (Not Missing) Cats he adopted was .

                        You could start with the mini-ish autobiography-ish that is in the Introduction for the The Coming of Shadows "script book" from 1998.

                        I've been reading the chapters for Becoming Superman backwards. Reading the Later Parts first makes it a little easier (and less depressing-ish) to handle the Earlier Parts.
