  • The Orville Discussion- SPOILERS

(Technically, this thread was created for JMS' TV projects but until he starts having more stuff on TV, we can make other use of it. I'll do housekeeping when the time comes. )

As stated in the other thread, I like this show. Yes, it's pretty obvious in a lot of places. Yeah, some of the comedy isn't to my taste. But I like the characters.

In 'About A Girl', the show has achieved what so many never do: it made me feel. Looking at a couple of the Orville FB pages, it looks like it's achieved a few 'bar fights' worth of discussion and I think that's not something anybody expected when looking at the original advertising for the show.

Hope to see more episodes with this depth in the future. And kudos to the show for doing this so early in the show's run.

Well I liked Orville Episode One better than Two, but only because the relationship stuff between them got REALLY old REALLY fast. This show is going to lose me if we have more scenes of the two leads sitting around talking about their relationship. Pushing that aside I LOVED everything else about the episode. The Zoo and the twist were awesome.

Is this worth my time? I started on the first episode, and I was kinda expecting it to be funnier, seems to fit somewhere between ST homage and light comedy... I didn't make it to the end of the episode. Might be in the wrong mood for it though....

I am warming to this, it reminds me of TNG. Okay, it's not got a shred of originality, and it's clearly a loving hommage to all things Trek, but it's kinda nice.

For all it's silliness, Ep 6 was actually quite dark.

Almost at the end now. It's fun. Proper Sunday Sci-fi as I like to call it. Nothing too challenging, just an enjoyable watch which reminds me of TNG.

I just read it won't be returning before September 2018 at the earliest. As of January 4th MacFarlane said Season Two is currently being written and he seemed to intimate that it would not be ready by Fall 2018 because they are planning at least 14 episodes. That was backpedaled to saying that it will likely be ready by September of 2018.

Oh okay, it must have been a UK network airing more episodes after a mid season break. My bad.

If you haven't watched it yet you are missing out. VERY surprised where they went with the first episode. And for anyone not in the U.S. I believe you can see THE ORVILLE NEW HORIZONS on Disney Plus Internationally.
