Well, I am nearing the end of Person of Interest, just the final four episodes of S5 to go now! Eeek! I'm going to miss it. I have to admit this show has really ramped up from a standard procedural show with a nice premise, to an intelligent piece about surveillance and AI.

And, the character work... it's an ensemble cast, but boy do you sure get attached to the main protagonists. This and last season were a total emotional roller coaster. I've been surprised by how much this show has improved as it's progressed, it's gone from a show I watched to relax and tune out, to being something I'm emotionally invested in and would recommend to others.

Amy Acker absolutely steals the show as Root. If you like crime procedurals, good characters and something that builds in an intelligent way... give this a go. It's great.

I have been watching the first 4 seasons and love PoI, essentially for all the reasons you mention. I am, at present, waiting for a regional DVD/BluRay version of the 5th season, and I am watching the previous seasons on Marathon sessions once a month.

Yes Amy Acker steals the show as Root.

I normally dislike the typical police procedural thing, but POI offers so much more. I doubt I would have watched it, or stuck with S1 if it had not been for a friend (whose tastes I trust) who assured me it was worth my time if i stuck with it.

As with most American shows with longer seasons (20 eps or so), I think there's too much filler, even with POI they could have shaved a few episodes easily. However, it all serves to build the characters to a point where you can buy into it more easily. There's room to explore tangents that you might not otherwise see.

The characters have excellent arcs, I mean Root
goes from complete psychopath to a character you love in the space of a few seasons.

I feel like I should check out Westworld now due to the Jonathan Nolan connection.

Completely agreed on the character arcs. The Root one is just excellent.

I started Westworld, and it takes a few episodes to catch me. I still nedd to watch 4 episodes of season 1.

Just finished Person of Interest. Perfect ending, brilliantly executed, may have made me tear up a bit... yeah, again.

Excellent TV. Highly recommended to all.

I did watch the fifth and final season of POI when it originally aired. I am in the process of rewatching it, but it's the first time for the people I'm watching it with.

POI's finale is the best I've seen since, yep, "Sleeping in Light".
