So I watched the first 7 eppies today. I started to like it around eppy 6. I think that was the best one, so far. I've gotten used to the format and I've even started liking the characters, even the boring safecracker.

Nomi and Freema are the best part of the show though. Especially Freema, she is excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love their relationship a lot, and the romance with the indian girl and the safecracker is sweet, as well.

Sun is awesome, but I think she did such a stupid thing going to prison for her horrid awful family.

The blond deejay is sooooooo boring.

I like the bus driver in Africa, and it was nice for once seeing the little girl who needs saving not be a little blond thing. Not that I don't love little blond girls, but little black girls are just as sweet and in need of saving, so that was nice.

I can't remember anyone's name, but Nomi. And Mr. Whispers.

I will prolly watch the rest of them tomorrow, if I can.

Just when I was starting to tire of the soap opera elements of the show, along comes Mr. Whispers. Here's our credible threat, and it works very well. Shades of Agent Smith (Body jumping).

It's interesting how different viewers have gravitated towards different characters. Thus far, I'm probably most invested in Naomi and Capheus.

My experience is a bit like Delenn_of_Mir's, I'm constantly having to look up character names when I do posts here. The only ones that have really stuck are Jonas, Sun, Naomi and Capheus. At this point, they could kill off a few and I wouldn't be too fussed. I do wonder if the cast is a bit too large and screen time for each character is spread a little too thin?

I must admit, the Tena Desae Bollywood romance thing bores me silly.

The Riley plot is okay, I like the icelandic folklore elements being introduced, and the DMT scene was amazing, but could have really featured any given character and still had the same effect.

As much as I'm liking the narrative, a lot of the character work does feel a bit flat and one dimensional. But yeah, things are still building. All this could change over time.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

          I loved this episode.

More investigation by the Chicago cop and finding there are things he didn't imagine - trying not to give away to his partner that he saw Angel in the van.

Great seeing the detective "Nancy Drew" thing going on with Nomi as well; finding the zombie that Metzger had operated on. And the ending of that was a good twist where it seems like Metzger wasn't in charge of what he was doing. I was for sure in the coffee shop that he knew what was going on but it seems Metzger was genuinely surprised when Nomi later said she called "Dr Matheson" back. "You've killed us all."

Seems like all the stories are getting intense. Loved the way the slow motion was done on Felix getting gunned down, and the horror that Capheus had to witness as Silas talks about love being what makes them both strong and then chopping off the others guy's hands.

For some reason I really like the actor they have that plays the scorned lover in the Mexico plot - he overacts just enough and sells the crazy.

I think the Indian romance plot with the German guy is sweet. I do feel like there isn't as much intensity in India but I really enjoyed the discussion of science and religion being different languages to explain the same phenomena - very JMS.

Not quite sure where the Icelandic plot is headed. Did Riley escape the drug dealers by leaving England?

          Mr. Whispers! Wow scary!

Can't wait til the next. Tonight hopefully.

I really liked this episode. I felt that after the last couple of episodes, where the overall arc about their abilities as well as the personal stories seemed to slow down, it all gained a lot more momentum again. I loved the scene with Riley and Capheus on the plane ("You're so lucky." "Priviledged, not lucky."), the conversation between Kala and Wolfgang (which, with their discussion of science and religion, and them being two sides of the same coin, definitely had shades of "Babylon 5"), and the scene where Sun entered the prison, and all the other women congratulate her on a job well done (even though it's for what she SEEMINGLY did, and not the real reason for why she went to prison; given the fact that they were all oppressed and were actually penalized for slashing out against their husbands/fathers etc., I'm wondering what they would say if they were to learn why she's really in prison?).

One of the best things about the episode, though, were the scenes with Lito, Hernando and Daniela (apart from Joaquin's demand to see Lito having sex with Daniela; even taking into account that by that point, he had seen the pictures and knew Lito's secret, it felt very forced and "hollywoodish", not like something that would happen in real life), since they finally allow Lito to go out with Hernando (who feigns to be their bodyguard) and enjoy his presence outside of the hotel room. On the other hand, it really made me mad that we live in a world where people still have to hide their true selves for fear of losing their jobs, or facing ther repercussions. Thus, as entertaining as the Lito-storyline was, it also offered food for thought, at least for me.

Finally, the overall mythology also made a huge step forward, with the revelation of the lobotomized patient, how Mr. Whispers seems to control him, and the showdown in Dr. Metzgers apartment in general. Which, before it got really tense, also offered up some nice humor to lighten the mood ("No porn stashed away? Ok, he's weird." "BFFs with Cheney? He's gotta be evil!"). Overall, a very enjoyable episode.

No, it was while he was there that he stole her phone. He didn't their secret then.

I really expected to hate the Lito/Hernando/Dani relationship but ended up liking them a lot.

Are we sure that she had her phone with her? I don't recall. I mean, it's clear that he leaves the hotel with her phone, but I thought that he had already grabbed it while they were out, thus seeing the pictures. With that in mind, his request KINDA made sense, in a sadistic way. If not, it just seems all the more far-fetched to me.

they pretty much had me at "Hello" (i.e. as soon as Daniela grabbed the champagne and lied down in the bed between them).

Pretty sure we saw her purse spill and that would have been when he snatched it. Remember how he talked about he and Dani looking at her pics on her phone and making fun of her old lovers? I'm betting that's why he took it - to see what she'd taken of herself and Lito.

I thought I wasn't going to like that dynamic either because I also thought she was just using them. When she took the picture of them I was thinking "oh you B! This is what you were going for all along, blackmail." When she showed genuine concern and was willing to do whatever it took to protect Lito, I was sold and she needed to be saved.

Definitely possible, yeah. Still, it only makes his request more weird in my opinion .

Oh, he was weird, all right! Obsession gets really odd sometimes.

we mwatched episodes 7.8 and 9 tonight.Serious ramping up of tension here with Mr Whispers and the body jumping thing in to the lobotomised guy and Nomi's reaction. I do love nomi and riley and the cop. Nice to see Lito's story go a bit more serious, although he was fun for the comic relief I much prefer him involved in things. So overall a good tense episode, on to my thoughts on episode 8.
"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "
