  • Asked & Answered - Part 1

Just thought I'd go ahead and have this nice, clean thread available for folks to be able to talk about the book when it goes on sale and y'all have a chance to check out the sample pages.

And...btw...regardless of my little meltdown in the old thread , I'm perfectly fine if this isn't to your taste once you've seen it and you're welcome to say so. I don't want to stifle real discussion. I honestly think that a lot of folks that aren't sure about the concept will love what they see in the sample pages, though.

          I ordered my copies.

I see they had to go to 5 books. Capt. Jaclyn had mentioned a chance of only 4 books. Hopefully this was done to include all the content, and not to hit the magic 5 number.

The sample pages do look nice, and the format seems straight forward. I do hope the books don't end up with as much wasted page space as the quote books had.

I'm really excited about this project. In some ways I view these books as a newspaper vs. internet argument. Yes, the internet can get you right to what you need, but it does not always expose you to things you didn't know you would like.

At one point, and I think she mentioned it on the podcast, all we knew was that it would be somewhere between 4 and 6 volumes.

Definitely not. There's enough space so the questions don't run together but there was no way we could try to keep whole posts on a page (which was something the Quote book tried to do), especially if we wanted to keep them chronological which we most definitely did.

            That's a very nice point.

LOL! And fortunately they're different enough that they won't be mixed up with the *other* blue covers.

BTW, has anybody seen Karen online lately? I worry when she's not here being anxious...

I've been missing her humorous retorts as well.

Silly me! I was assuming that anybody passing by would already be on the Alert mailing list and know what I was talking about. For those who don't, go to the B5books.com and find all of the information as well as the links to 12 sample pages.

I think she mentioned in another thread she'd be away on the day this book came out. Just the luck, after all that anxiousness! :P

                        Some questions

                        Hi Jan,

Since you are the font of all knowledge, the deep throat of insider information, I thought I'd aim these questions in your direction for assistance.

                        1. I know it is all about marketing but could the $10.00 discount not apply a wee bit longer. Reason I say this is that 90% of people who buy book 1 will buy all 5, so why the rush.....and since if I buy 1 I will buy all 5 it does involve some consideration regarding fiscal matters which need to be negotiated with my better half and while a week is a long time in politics....

                        2. Will it be possible to buy all 5 at the end. I believe it is 1 per month for 5 months, so that really falls around my birthday, which would make it a much easier a sell to 'she who must be obeyed'.

                        Thanks

Flattery will get you...well, not very far but I appreciate it.

This is a situation where I have to refer you to Captain Jaclyn at [email protected] I could probably make some educated guesses but it's she who actually makes these kinds of decisions. When you email her, put Attention: Captain Jaclyn in the subject line so the email will be called to her attention.

That said, this seems to be a good time to remind people that with the summer months coming up if there's a release while you're on vacation or away for other reasons, Captain Jaclyn is generally very generous about extending 'Vacation Amnesty' and extending the debut discount.

I liked the sample pages. However, I had this very odd sense of dÚjÓ vu and felt very old while reading them.

I definitely relate to the dÚjÓ vu, Dan! Old, however, is always going to be 10 years older than whichever one of us is the elder.

One of the files that we unearthed were many of the old "Ask JMS" files from AOL. I was like a giddy kid when I found the first question that I ever asked him.
