  • Ask JMS questions about the TV Movies

Looks like Christmas came a bit earlier after all:

Later this year we will be releasing the "Babylon 5 Scripts of J. Michael Straczynski: TV Movies". With this book is a special opportunity. For the first time J. Michael Straczynski is letting fans ask any question they want about the four TV Movies "Thirdspace", "The River of Souls", "Legend of the Rangers" or "The Lost Tales "

    and:

UPDATE: Our next book announcement will be sent August 20.

I'm assuming that's what we were waiting for, unless of course there's something else posted today.

Joe, I never got up before 4:30, honest

I haven't received the announcement yet. Did they mention the process for submitting questions for jms' review?

I've submitted one for each movie. I'm crossing fingers and hoping at least one gets chosen.

We haven't seen A Call to Arms yet. My guess is the next announcement is Crusade, and it'll be part of that set.

Not that I think the opportunity to submit questions is necessarily a bad thing, but I hope this doesn't replace JMS's introductions, which were my main reason for buying the script books in the first place.

I forgot we hadn't seen scripts for all the TV movies yet.

I'll have to think about those.

Wow, you guys are quick! I've barely even gotten the announcement.

The clue I wanted to post was: "Ask not what your Script Book can do for you, ask what you can do for your Script Book".

Submitting your question to J. Michael Straczynski about the Babylon 5 TV movies.

CRITICAL NOTE: No questions will be personally answered. A committee will select the questions that JMS will respond to. All responses will appear in the forthcoming "Babylon 5 Scripts: The TV Movies" being released later this year.

Which movie is your question about?
                [ ] Thirdspace
[ ] The River of Souls
[ ] Legend of the Rangers
                [ ] The Lost Tales

                What is your question?
Sigh! Submitting a question (ONE question) via a form sort of takes the fun out of asking questions. Did I overload the script team with all the questions I submitted via Jan, our beloved Grandmistress of Scripts?

Not to worry, Dan your way was fine for what we were doing then. But we learn by doing and there's a reason for the form. After all, I'm reasonably sure that more people will want to ask JMS questions than there were for the "Other Voices" writers.

I don't know if that's been decided as yet.

I'm looking at the Lurker's Guide page about Third Space and various questions are popping into my mind from reading there. One thing that I just put in a question that I was wondering if could be suggested to the script team - any chance of getting some drawings from Wayne Barlowe of the artifact?

Does the exclusion of A Call to Arms imply that there will be a Crusade script book that includes A Call to Arms?

I interviewed Barlowe some years back for a couple of pieces in Starlog (#259) and TV Zone (#123) and I remember how excited I was when some of his drawings from Thirdspace came through the fax machine. I donÆt have the issue in front of me, but IÆm fairly sure that some of those drawings appeared in that issue of TV Zone, although I donÆt think it was all of them (I believe there were eight pages of designs for the artifact and the Old One). Anyway, since that was nearly a decade ago, I agree that it would be nice if a larger number of people got to see them this time.

It may depend on whether or not JMS has any of that art in his archives. Remember, everything in the books generally depends on what's in his collection. Were those concept drawings? Because I believe they used storyboards pretty extensively, too.
