  • Only a few days left to order.

As of today, there are only 4 days left to purchase the JMS scriptbooks.

Some people worry about getting all 14 so they can get the bonus book. This doesn't have to be the case. You don't have to have every book.

If money or even your interest doesn't allow for the complete set, I urge you to order the one that covers your favorite episode, and get that volume. You'll be glad you did, and get insights and knowledge that were previously unavailable to you.

Yeah, well, the rent is cheap, the pay is decent and I get to make my own hours.

Um this message confused me. I think you're trying to say that there's great stuff in all the volumes. However, if Volume 15 is the one you really want, then you do have to order all 14 other volumes.

Some of the stuff I enjoyed:

Volume 3 had early memos describing episodes planned for season two, where you can see some plots that were shifted to other episodes, and other plots that weren't used at all. There was also the original description of John Sheridan before he was cast and also jms' ORIGINAL idea for a squad leader pilot and why Keffer had to die. (However, if you want a description of what happened with Michael O'Hare I can sum up jms' words in Volume 3: jms knows why, and he's not going to say, so deal with it)

Volume 7 has the first script for War Without End, when Draal was still included before it was learned John Schuck wouldn't be available for filming.

Volume 9 has the jms outline for the novel, "Personal Agendas," and also the outline for what became the "In Valen's Name" comic and a script for the planned DC issue #12 before jms pulled the line because of conflicts with DC's odd interpertation of "creative control"

Volume 10 has one of the most interesting things I think, which was the planned story to lay on top of Season 5 that wasn't ever done, wbich involved "Empire Building" and an interesting visitor from the future. It also has the original treatment for the Babylon 5 sequel when it was called "Rangers" and was going to immediately follow Season 4.

Volume 11 has the play-by-play on losing of the season 5 notes, and the whole Claudia situation between Season 4 and 5. This is one of the longest stories jms writes in these volumes and is very interesting.

Volume 12 has lots of early sketches for designs that are pretty neat to see.

Volume 14 has the "prodcuer's notebook" of "In the Beginning" which has a breakdown of the schedule for filming and also storyboards for the movie. It is very entertaining IMO.

Those are the things I look at more than once, and the volumes I would reccommend most if you are only looking for one or two.

Yes, in order to get Volume 15, you have to get all 14 but I think what Glindros means that even if you can't get all of them (and V15), don't let that stop you from getting one or more of them anyway because the individual books are worthwhile on their own.

Sorry about the confusion Joe. Jan was correct about my intention.

Some people feel like the script books have to be an all or nothing purchase. I think most fans would get alot out of any one of the books. So far #11 is my favorite YMMV.

Thanks for putting that up, JoeD80. I'd also add that JMS's stirring tribute to Andreas Katsulas in Volum 6 is an eminently worthwhile read that brings to life the man behind all of that latex.

I didn't actually recently check the site until today, but it does say
The Babylon 5 Scripts of J. Michael Straczynski Limited Edition 14 volume series availability ended on June 30, 2008. They are no longer available and will never be re-issued. Congratulations to all who got them.

The Joe Store is closed until August, 2008
