  • Book 12 "Stop the Presses" Out in September

I just received the email regarding book 12. It is being delayed until September 18th, but the reason for the delay is that Joe found a box of goodies that has been missing for 13+ years and has included a bunch of new photos and memos from that box.

    Here is Joe's memo

    ================================================== ========

    THE MIDNIGHT MEMO

    Date: Tuesday, August 21 2007
    TO: Scripts Team
    FROM: JMS

    SUBJECT: Stop The Presses

I realize that you guys are busy prepping the release of volume 12 but when you've heard what I discovered you'll understand why we have to stop this run and start another. It's worth it.

Last night I discovered a box of archives that no one (including me) has seen in more than 13 years...B5 material I thought had been lost ages ago...material from the very first stages of creating B5...photos from behind the scenes in the lead-up to shooting...artwork on station IDs...signage and ranks that were not used....

Since volumes 13 and 14 are already packed to the gills, volume 12 is the only place for them. The fans have got to see this stuff. You'll have the scans in a few days.

I realize this means that we have to redo volume 12 from scratch but it's definitely worth it.

So, I guess it's a case of good news and bad news for us script book collectors, but I expect the little extra wait will be worth it.

Definitely. Thank you JMS and Cafe Press for making the decision to include this extra material.

I can imagine the slapped forheads when that email came in. Having put it to bed and then to have to redo ... doh!

        But good for us

And here I was doing a last minute check for any coupons... Oh well, it's a good reason to wait. Kind of a New Material amnesty

For me it's a case of good news good news since I'm in the middle of moving and won't have a mailing address for another week or so. Thanks for stopping the presses JMS!

              Good luck moving, Boo Gee!

One small nitpick, JMS's memo to the Scripts Team only mentions photos and artwork, not memos. Still, it sounds like fun. I enjoy seeing concept art and the original ideas.

Do note that you can still order volume 12 now (as I did today in order to take use of one of Karen's posted coupon codes that expires today), it just won't be shipped until September 18th. When I first read the email sent out, it kind of confused me, but I think it's a little clearer on the actual Cafe Press order page that ordering it now just puts you in the top part of the cue come September 18th.

At this point, I think I'd like to see a book with nothing but memoes from the production.

(Of course, with a nice big juicy section of stuff from TNT over Crusade... )

I was just thinking that the problem with a big book of Crusade memos would be the possibility of a libel suit, until I realized that truth is the biggest protection against libel, and there's nothing more true than an ill-informed memo from a TNT executive in his own words!

The book of memos may be fun but there will be problems with copyright.
