  • Possible PAD scripts?

Peter David is doing a Qand A on his blog and this is one of them. (PAD's reply is in caps.):

Posted by Raphael Sutton at April 14, 2007 09:39 PM
I've been getting the Babylon 5 scripts that JMS is publishing (www.babylon5scripts.com if anyone is interested). Unfortunately JMS said that, due to rights issues, he can only publish the scripts he wrote. Is there any chance that your own B5 scripts, as well as the Crusade one, will be published at some point? Maybe make a deal with JMS to add them to one of the upcoming volumes? Thanks!

    Raphy

THERE'S ALWAYS A CHANCE. I'VE NO INTEREST IN SELF-PUBLISHING MY SCRIPTS, BUT IF JOE CAME TO ME AND WANTED TO WORK SOMETHING OUT, THEN SURE.

    (End blog entry)

I immediately sent this to Jaclyn at B5 scripts and asked if they COULD work something out. Keep your fingers crossed.

I've already gotten a reply. (Boy are they quick!):

    Hi Karen,

Since we only handle customer service for the scripts we can not answer your question.
Wish we could be of more help.

    Best regards,
    Jaclyn

So, anyone have any ideas on how to get this request to JMS? If so, please run with it. I would dearly love to have PAD's scripts with my collection.

The best place to post questions to JMS is via the moderated newsgroup, rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated There's information about getting started on posting there in the FAQ here in the forums.

I've been to the newsgroups, but there are so many posts and so much info and so many subjects, that I stopped going there and just stay at small, manageable (to me, at least) places, like this. If anyone who is familiar with the forums would like to post this info, please do. I guess places with 50 million posters tend to overwhelm me.

Well, that's a bit more encouraging of an answer than the last time he did a Q & A and I asked him roughly the same question. (Too late/tired to search for thread now... sorry.)

OK, I bit the bullet and tried to post something to the newsgroup. Keep your fingers crossed and if no one sees anything after a reasonable time, please post your own PAD question to the moderated group.

Your post has cleared moderation, Karen. That's one great thing about Amy being a moderator now. She does it several times a day.

Yes...at some point we plan to approach Peter and Larry DiTillio and
others to make an arrangement that will give them a proper royalty for
the publication. We just want to get the jms scripts done first.

                Excellent news indeed.

I just saw it on the newsgroup. I have to tell you it was kind of a thrill to have JMS answer my question. And so quickly! And, of course, I am really thrilled with the answer!

                      Cool.

Maybe they can even get some of them to write about their experience on the show, especially the repeat offenders like DiTillo and David. Would be cool to have other perspectives in the style of JMS' introductions.
