Beyond the BABYLON 5 Scripts-

I'm pretty sure that no more than 3 movies would fit in one book, assuming that they'd be the same size/style as the current ones.

JMS wrote 10 of the 13 televised episodes of Crusade. If I were setting them up (which means I don't know what I'm talking about ) I'd do two Crusade books -- one with A Call to Arms and 5 episodes and the other with the the other 5 produced scripts as well as the 2 unproduced JMS scripts. Which seems to leave one of the movies out in the cold unless they can squeeze 4 movie scripts into one book.

But, hey, we're only 1/3 of the way through the B5 scripts so there's plenty of time to find out how the rest of the books will be arranged.

How about a script book featuring Thirdspace, River Of Souls, A Call To Arms, Legend Of the Rangers and Memory of Shadows?

(Or would folks rather see Call To Arms in a Crusade collection?)

I'll be interested to see them also. For an idea of what he had to deal with, though, here's a post where he demonstrated his answers to some of the notes. What I'm also hoping is that he might publish the earliest drafts of the Crusade scripts rather than the shooting draft. For instance, War Zone, the episode he never intended to write, DIDN'T start out with the attempted mutiny in the first draft.

Crusade Scripts

I am very interested in these scripts, but I think it will be interesting to get more of the backstory behind the meddling and sabotage that occurred at the hands of the suits at TNT: the kinds of things that were disingenuously edited out of the DVD commentaries.

I guess what it may boil down to is whether the script ended up being the movie JMS wanted to make. One thing struck me when he posted about the project dead-ending was that he said that the script was revised many times. That just doesn't sound like his usual way of doing things.

Time will tell, I guess.

My understanding of the situation with the script for The Memory of Shadows, is that as the writer he is free to publish it as a script if he wishes to, but cannot make a movie of it without the OK from those who commissioned it.

That was my thought on it too, but wanted to double-check.

I'm wondering if the Crusade volume will go into a little more depth on what we missed out on in the planned story-arc or if JMS is going to keep that close to his vest for the eventuality of resolving it in some way in the future.

For that matter, can JMS make available the aborted movie script in a Crusade scriptbook or similar volume?

It would also be cool if he were to include his two unfilmed Crusade scripts (To The Ends of the Earth, and End Of The Line). I have seen the write-ups about the scripts and what they contained, but I didn't even know they were posted at Bookface until after Bookface had gone under. I would love to see those two in full.

The movie script would be great too, though I'm guessing he might not want to release that in the hope of reviving that story later.

YES!!! I'd love to see the Twilight Zone scripts and compare them to the short stories and compare those to the TV DVDs. From what I've seen the short stories are considerably better than the episodes.

Hmmmm...maybe then the Murder, She Wrote scripts...I've only latched on to one of them so far.

But most of all, I want to see some of his play scripts. I've only got one of those, too, and it was written when he was 19 or so. Who, me obsessive-compulsive?

Haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere on the boards but in JMS's most recent Words, words, words column he mentions that after the Babylon 5 scripts are done he will move onto his Twilight Zone and Crusade scripts among others...

Before we begin our next expedition, a quick word about the link that appears at the bottom of this column. Subsequent volumes will feature my Twilight Zone and Crusade scripts, and possibly some volumes of comics scripts as well.
