For when we start getting the books.

No, this isn't spoiler info, but in case anybody missed the info in the Volume 15 thread, there won't be a teensy-weensy number on the back of volume #3 as part of proof of purchase to get the free Volume 15. You'll only be needing your order number which can be gotten from your email confirmation, your shipping receipt or from Cafe Press by phone or by logging into the website.

SPOILERS!!! I got my book today!

Really. Truly. Spoilers ahead, turn back now....

Life is good... As usual, I laughed out loud several times but for the first time, I was tempted to cheer when JMS said what he said about the change from Michael to Bruce. The short version is (my phrasing):

4 people were in the room when the discussion took place. They know the entire story. Nobody else does. Nobody else will. Deal with it.

Way to go, JMS. Other things of note in no particular order:

-Footnote #1 is a perfect example of how/why we SF fans are NOT the only ones obsessive-compulsive about our interests.

-Why, oh why didn't he find a way to write "A Dream Within a Dream"?!?!? That would have been SO much fun! Well, okay, maybe not fun...just very very cool both for the characters AND the actors.

-Omaha might not have liked it if JMS had managed to get a character he wanted-an on-station ISN reporter NOT named Jane.

-Yep, there's times when he's petty. And times when he's a total control freak. And times when he revels in being able to write for and hire the people he admires. And he seems to be perfectly aware of them. At least he knows *what* he's doing and *why* he's doing it and decides to go for it. Robert A. Heinlein would have approved.

-"Just turn the freaking page, okay?"

      -I'm glad Techno-wizards became Techno-Mages.

-JMS's theory of synchronicity and how it's reconciled with his atheism..or not.

-The true meaning of the dove on Garibaldi's shoulder

      -Ben Cross as Sheridan??

Enough already. What do you guys think or notice about this one?

You say that now, but remember ... Jane didn't even get a name until mid-season 3. It could very well have been Her.

I'm listening to my new Sony MP3 player, and ironically, as I hit the "submit" button, the ISN Jingle from "Endgame" started playing.

I love when that happens. ... 15.5 hours of material on there, all at random, and THAT song comes up at just that time. Love it!

Omaha...I like Jane, you know that...but there's no way in the world that the description JMS put in the book was Jane if for no other reason <getting ready to duck from Omaha's wrath> than the fact that Jane's not 'drop dead gorgeous'.

              Sorrrryyyy....

Silly, silly ... There's "drop dead gorgeous" in the sense of T&A, which the networks seem to go for. Then there's "stage beauty" ... Old-fashioned, think Rosalind Russell in Mame, for example. Classic beauty. You know, like Jane and Jan.

You sweet talker you...but get back to me after you've read the entire description. I just don't think Jane could be that Machiavelian (sp?).

                    Anna Sheridan

I have a question... well, two actually.

Jms writes in the introduction to 'Revelations': when Melissa Gilbert came in to play Anna in year four...

How come he refers to year 4... as this happens at the end of season 3?
Or does he count in an extra year for the pilot?

Could I sue him for giving me laughter cramps when reading his footnotes? They should come with a big warning sign.

Will keep ploughing through... in spite of the cramps. Count me among the brave.

Every once in a while he misspeaks/mistypes. Like in the commentary for SiL he calls it Coriana 7 instead of 6. Numbers not Joethras's skill.

I think that comes under the heading of self-inflicted. Just remember that these days they're saying that laughter is as good as aerobic exercise.

You can do it! Be brave! The end comes all too soon and then the wait for the next volume.

LOL! "A Dream Within a Dream" could have been a very funny episode, if written that way. I doubt it would have worked out as a "favorite" episode though, because the roll-reversal stuff seems to me to be so cliche by now. A lot of different TV programs have had episodes like that.

What interested me was how many of the original ideas/premises he had for s2 stories ended up in different places entirely ... such as the holo-brothel in River of Souls (man, I would have paid good money to see Ivanova in that one), and the uniform design thing that ended up in Crusade, etc.

The reason for the dove on Garibaldi's shoulder during the dream sequence in All Alone In The Night also appeals enormously.

The Pessimist: The glass is half empty

Yay! Got it here in Norway too... Now, the obvious question is, in a friggin studio, with probably dozens of cameras around, why oh why were noone filming the... ummm.... "encounter" between Claudia and Andrea? Now that I'd pay good money to see....

And I totally sympathise about the cramps. I so rarely laugh out loud from a book anymore, but Volume 3 had me laughing long and hard twice before I even came to page 3.... The footnotes are killer!

By the way, I've been trying to find online interviews with Andreas Katsulas, and while I can find many long interviews with the others (especially the IGN Filmforce ones are ace), I can't seem to find any with Andreas, except a couple where he only discusses "Rangers". I'd love to hear his thoughts about working on B5, what he felt about the rest of the cast, etc. Anyone know?

Well, now...remember that the photos had to be pushed back to volume 4 so there's always hope. I wouldn't count on seeing any such thing, but there's always hope.

Yeah, I do believe that boy can write a lick, can't he?

Joe Nazzaro might...or might have some himself as he did quite a bit of writing and interviews of the cast and crew for various publications including the Official Babylon 5 Magazine. By all reports, Andreas is a very private person and he doesn't seem to ever have done a whole lot of publicity seeking. He's one of the few cast members I haven't met at a con and I regret that.
