You've let this genie out of the bottle Jan, you asked lurkers to post, now you can't stop me (well, since you're the mod technically you could stop me, but I'm sure you're far too nice for that )

But to get back on my (off) topic. I was on the B5 lurkers guide and found a refernce to "Dark Shadows" which was a 70's Vampire Tv series. It was never syndicated outside the states and amazon.com has 21 volumes of it! (and a 1991 revival). What I'm wondering is, was it any good?

I'm considering DVD purchases (credit card dangerously empty ATM) but wondered if it was worth it.

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

Never happen unless you turn trollish which doesn't seem likely at the moment.

Well....I've been a capital-F Fan of exactly 3 shows in my life. Star Trek TOS, Dark Shadows and B5. The original Dark Shadows is now VERY dated. It was basically filmed live and special effects were in their infancy. The 1991 revival was *wonderful*! I highly recommend it. Ben Cross made a wonderfully conflicted Barnabas.

"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past." -- G'Kar in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"

Oops, forgot to mention that if you do decide to get the original series, you'll want to make sure that the episodes you get are from when Barnabas shows up on.

          Thanks!

Wow! I'm impressed. I appreciate the feedback on this, and it'll go on my "to be bought" list.
Bearing in mind the "to be watched" list now consits of...
          1 season of Alias
          2 seasons of 24
Fall and rise of reginald perrin (all of it)
          2 seasons of Rising Damp
and ongoing hard disk recorded stuff.
          plus at least 12 movies
I think I'll wait until my Open University course is finished (exam in October) then I'll plunge happily into it.
          Cheers again folks,
