  • New Harry Potter Book! (NO Spoilers)

Well, it's here, it has dropped and my wife has finished it. I won't tell you what happened, except that she didn't expect any of it.

She says it rocked! I can't wait.

I got it at roughly 1AM. Behind about 350 other some odd people, and in front of about 250 other people.

I don't quite get what's going on, but then, I'm kinda only halfway through.

I received it at appx. 1 pm Saturday, and with only two exceptions (an hour for Big Brother and 7 hours to sleep) read it straight through, finishing Sunday.

I can only say this ... If you plan on reading the book, avoid ALL spoilers, don't give into the temptation ... I dread the next 2-3 years, waiting for the final book.

When I finally did go to sleep, I had exactly 150 pages to go ... So I'm feeling pretty good about it. :P

I''m still waiting for my wife to finish the second reading (she always reads it twice before she lets me) and for the mean time, I'm re-reading 1-5. I'm about 1/4 way through Goblet and I only started reading a week ago Saturday. (as in started with Sorcerer's Stone).

I know that I going to be shouted at for saying this but is JKR being paid by the page? You'd think so by this volume, and for what? A volume that does get boiling until its last 3 chapters.

Sorry folks but JKR has RUN OUT OF IDEAS. This is evidenced bythe fact that the identity of the half-blood prince is obvious from the first mention of the character, the 'death' at the end is once again for shock value only, and the whole thing could easily have been done in a much tighter form with a 200page trim. Does JKR have no editor? She needs one. The plot here is stretched so very thin that you can almost hear it creaking under the strain of having to support so much waste paper.

It is obvious to me that (as a reader and fan of the earlier books) JKR has very little left but has had to save everything she has in reserve for the last book.

Should have been so much better.

                  What spoilers?

What did I give away about the story that has not already been splashed over every magazine, TV prog or radio show, from here to kingdom come?

I did not reveal the identity of the 'Prince'

I did not reveal who it is that gets killed - a facet of the story which JKR HERSELF told the whole world was coming this time, way before this book came out.

I did not reveal anything about any of the 'developments' of the book in any way, shape or form...that had not already been made public by JKR PERSONALLY (even on her own web page for goodness sake!) months before hand!!!

Which 'spoilers' are you refering to, because you have lost me totally

Except that I've already taken care of that situation so nobody needs to do anything else.

Lightstorm, I know that while you thought you were posting common knowledge, many people wouldn't have any way of knowing what JKR might or might not have revealed. Me, for instance. Don't watch news, read papers or magazines. Best to err on the side of caution.

I didn't notice any 'shouting', however.
