Brosnan Back as Bond ??

All bets are off about the new James Bond - it looks like Pierce Brosnan will be back as the suave super spy after all.

According to Internet reports, Sony bosses want Brosnan to return as 007 in the next Bond film Casino Royal, and they're keen for him to star in one more movie after that.

A source tells website Darkhorizons.Com, "All the stuff we heard about Brosnan being out is just a ploy from both camps.

"The negotiations between Brosnan and Eon (Bond production company) came to an end because, in the last year, things were up in the air, thanks to all the organisational changes taking place.

"Brosnan/Eon camps are still going through the motions of bluffing each other: an echo of the old poker game that Cubby Broccoli (former Bond boss) went through with Roger Moore - Moore frequently announced that he wouldn't be back.

"The mood around Sony is that Brosnan will be back.

"Hence, the reluctance of the filmmakers to come right out and announce that they have parted ways with Brosnan.

"Sony are not in a gambling mood.

"They could lose more with an unknown actor, or with an experienced but unpopular actor.

"They're well aware that you just can't place any actor in this role."

Ranger1, you and I most often agree. However, here we are opposites. I must question whether or not you realize you stand pretty much alone in the sentiment that Brosnan was/is not the best Bond. He is, in actuality, the best Bond since Connery, hands down, and Sony knows it.

As to his return, I don't believe internet rumor unless there is some morsel to back it up. This contains no such morsel. Even with said tidbit of possible fact, I don't fully believe internet rumor, but will lean with such as a definate possibility.

CASINO ROYALE's listing at Hollywood Reporter, does not state who will play Bond, so I can neither verify nor deny anything.

From my understanding of what they wanted to do with the franchise (but, then, that's based on rumor as well) is that they wanted to de-age Bond a bit, which Brosnan would not be able to pull off.

Last I heard from rumor was that Clive Owen had finally agreed to take over the role.

Bottom line is, we don't know and won't know until they officially announce. They have kept this rumormill going for some time, most likely to keep the buzz going.

After "The Man with the Golden Gun" (some may argue after "The Spy Who Loved Me"), the Roger Moore Bond films not only jumped over the shark, they went back to catch it, take it home and have a variety of shark dishes, including an excellent Shark fin and Crab soup. Timothy Dalton's 2 movies were more enjoyable. At least to me, that's like comparing the artistic merits of the 2 Ewok movies ("The Ewok Adventure" and "Ewoks: The Battle of Endor") to "Attack of the Puppet People" and "Santa Claus conquers the Martians".

When I saw Goldeneye, I thought that it was very well done. I might have to lay out where it is on my list of Bond films I like, which only consists of 10. I saw "Tomorrow Never Dies" and I don't remember a thing from the movie at all. "The World is not Enough" left me with a bitter taste after watching it. I felt that some of the humor was just contrived, especially with John Cleese as much as I enjoy his stuff. While Denise Richards is a pleasant sight for the eyes, I cared nothing for her character. I just saw the same lack of acting skills that were shown in "Starship Troopers". I have never seen "Die Another Day" at all, nor have I any intention of seeing it. None of the trailers hooked me, and the Madonna video that I saw a scant 4 seconds of killed any interest I might have had.

I remember when i was younger,when a new Bond movie was released,we were all like "oh YES a new Bond"....there was something in the air which i can't really describe,these Brosnan's Bond movie doesn't have the same feeling as with the older Bond movies,they are just another summer action blockbuster.

And im a Moore fan when it comes to Bond,maybe because i grew up on his Bond flicks (Connery's Bond was way ahead of my time,and felt a bit old to me even back then).

I get the same feel. I subscribe it to Summer Blockbuster phenomenon itself. It's just hacked out nowadays.

I like Brosnan, actually. I look at him and I think Bond. He fits the role. I just can't care much about Bond.

I don't have anything against Brosnan as an actor,no no no..but all the Bond movies that came after Moore are not "Bond material",not the same "special feel" that all Bond movies had.

I have to agree with Ranger1 here and say that I prefer Moore over Connery, since I grew up in that era as well. It's a fight that my father and I have had on many occasions.
