  • Don't Panic...!

New movie this year based on Douglas Adams' HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY.

    What do you others think?

Hope it does not go the way of all the other (forgive the expression) 'Americanised' attempts to convert essentially British entertainment for U.S. audiences. There are many that worked brilliantly in their original form, but once it hit the States was destroyed by changes and interference.

    1) RED DWARF.

    2) THE OFFICE

    3) FAWLTY TOWERS

    4) DEAR JOHN

I don't understand the mentality that says 'hey, this show is GREAT, let's make it over here' then procede to totally reinvent and rewrite all the idea until it is a pale shadow of the source material and any similarity to the original is lost.

This will be the 3rd incarnation for HGTTG, (from radio to TV to cinema) so there will need to be differences and (we hope) improvements but let's hope that it stays true to the original.

This is a film that has been in development for sooooo long that only real shame is that Douglas Adams, who LOVED the idea of his story making it to the cinema, never lived to see it finally happen.
