Don't Panic..!

Aside from a B5 movie, this year sees a movie based on Douglas Adams' HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. I have always been a fan of this quirkily British story. I wonder how Hollywood will handle it. I sure hope it doesn't go in the THUNDERBIRDS direction, totally ruining a great idea.

I have heard that there is a 'love-triangle' element to the film around Arthur, Zaphod and Trillian. Why do these things always seem to happen? They did something similar to Dr.Who and killed it stone dead. Why do good stories, with built-in audiences, and world-wide fans need this kind of crappy interference, to make it better? In whose opinion?

Still, I'm happy to give it a go. I have already found myself quoting HGTTG lines about digital watches being a "...really neat idea.." and how you may think that it's a long way down to the supermarket(?) "...but that's just peanuts to space, listen..."

Worth watching I think.

Awesome trailer. I think that was MiB music they were using, which I hope they replace. And I was kind of caught off guard by Z's second head being where it is.

Looks a good bit Americanized. But I hear Douglas himself was working the script before he died. So I'm not too worried.

Depending on how the Hollywood guys treat it, it may work, after all Arthur met Trillian at a party some time before the big bypass thing, and so it's definite that he had a thing for her since that night, and Zaphod I think has a thing for everyone (well maybe not Arthur).

I just hope Marvin looks as much like the BBC Marvin. I am getting the Paranoid Android's name right, aren't I.

The UK trailer looks alot better than the one I saw on Amazon some weeks ago. Nice to hear Stephen Fry doing the book. And a few bars of Journey of the Sorcerer. I thought Stephen Moore was going to be Marvin's voice, it now appears to be (from the sound of it Alan Rickman!!??) Not sure about how I feel about that but it could be worse I suppose. It certainly looks rather lush. I'd be a alot more enthusiastic if I hadn't just found that TMoS had just been shot dead.

Take this for what it's worth: As for TMoS getting shot dead...it has taken over ten years to get this HITCHHIKER's film made...but ultimately it did and with the support it deserved. Hopefully, the same will happen with B5.

Sometimes, it takes a while and many tries, but the wait is oftentimes worth it.
