  • Mira Furlan on "Lost"

Yes, it's "off topic", but so are many themes on this list.

I just watched the "Lost" episode in which Mira Furlan's character is introduced. She should draw many more people to the show!

Even in ugly make-up she is a beautiful woman. She was able to demonstrate more of her acting skill in a different light than the B5 audience has seen her before.

So, even as a loner on an island, she is a very strong character, one not to be messed with yet still feminine.

I was so happy to finally heard that voice again.

And the character she plays is so appropriate.

Since she has been on the Island over 16 years before the plane crash she speaks similarily to Delenn and gave a speach about an unknown enemy and of "whispers" that can be heard in the jungle...at that moment me and my roomate looked at each other and screamed..."It's The shadows" !!!

I hope this does not interfere with her being in the b5 movie...

There actually is a thread on this in the off-topic board (which is the appropriate spot, I think), if anyone cares to stop by. I was wondering why me and Jan were the only one's there.

The biggest "fantasy" about Lost is that ANYONE survived a plane breaking up at high altitude!!!

That's actually one of the plot points. From episode 7:

            KATE
What are the odds of this working?

            SAYID
No worse than the odds of us surviving that plane crash.

            KATE
People survive plane crashes all the time.

            SAYID
Not like this one. The tail section broke off when we were still in the air. Our section cartwheeled into the jungle, yet we escaped with only a few scrapes. How do you explain that?

            KATE
            Blind dumb luck?

            SAYID
No one's that lucky. We shouldn't have survived.

So it seems the plane crash wasn't as straight forward as it seems, and the reason for it and the reason they survived is yet to be revealed. This show just keeps getting better and better, I hope they can keep it up. I'm looking forward to more of Mira Furlan, she was great in this. Maybe the season finale is her flashback episode?
