  • Spoiler customs?

Just wondering how people want to handle spoilers here? We don't have a way of 'hiding' text here but maybe we should discuss putting 'spoiler' into thread headers and leaving spoiler space?

Personally, I don't mind spoilers but I know many people do so it'd be nice if we could warn them. Ideas? Comments?

Spoilers are a tricky issue. To me, there is no such thing as spoilers for a show like Babylon 5. The show concluded six years ago. If anyone comes to a jmsnews.com forum and expects spoiler warnings for a show 95% of the posters have seen, then that's unreasonable.

Stuff like BSG...well, if you see the thread, you can be pretty sure there may be some spoilers. If you see in one post that it's already airing in the UK, and someone else asking how the episodes are in another post, the common sense says the next post will have an answer, possibly with spoilers.

The bottom line, in my opinion, is that taking extreme measures for spoilers is, well, extreme.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

It's definately better to avoid these sites altogether if you haven't seen/experienced these creative works for yourself.

I've read so many spoilers for the latter episodes of B5 that I STILL haven't seen that if I could go back in time avoid this site I probably would :_ /

I think an appropriate number of blank lines should suffice. After that, people can either keep away from the thread or take the concequences.

Remember: not everybody have seen the whole series yet. Not in the US and certainly not in the rest of the world.

Just to be sure I'm clear, I'm talking about spoiler protection for *new* shows. Since Battlestar Galactica is airing overseas before here, it seemed like a good idea.

Cronan, if it's any consolation, with those B5 episodes you haven't seen yet, the spoilers may not detract from your enjoyment. I couldn't resist spoilers but the experience was always way better than any spoiler could have indicated.

Maybe Doug can implement some way to put in invisible text (highlight to read).

              Try using the Color selector.
Some of the colors are already pretty dificult to read, depending on the color of your background...

              test Invisible text
              test SILVER invisible text

After The Gathering and a smattering of S1 and S2 eps, I didn't see B5 again until S5, and then only channel flipping. Later on TNT reruns, I saw several eps from S4, and I have them on tape. I watched them over and over, but when I began from the start of the series with the DVD's, it was like I'd never seen the S4 eps.

Anywhere between 5 and 10 blank lines would suffice I think.

Well, as it happens, I may be getting ahold of S4 soon, so if the theory above proves to be accurate you'll definately be hearing from me.

On the other hand, if it proves to be highly INaccurate, well, I shudder to think what the bloody remains of the raw, mutilated brain matter will do to my freshly laid carpet....

BTW : Spoilers? Put a 'scroll down to next page' at the top of your posting.
