Anybody ever seen Con Air with Nicholas Cage? Me and a friend have had a theory since SG-1's second season that the scene with Don S. Davis' car getting, well, crushed by a falling body was actually General Hammond and his wife on vacation to someone in her family's wedding.

I think he said that he was going to be in the final two episodes this season and possibly one more. When asked about his leaving, he said that it was a mutual decision. He'd had some health issues and wanted to slow down and they wanted to have the change of command so that the civilian would be available for Stargate Atlantis. Definitely no hard feelings.

Also, I don't recall if this was mentioned before but there will be a 9th season.

They've announced it? How? I though RDA wanted out. I hope they don't drag this out to the point were it's too hard to do both shows, SG-1 gets stale, and/or due to the two afore mentioned problems both shows suffer and become less than they can be.

They need a new director and writer. Perhaps I should send them some of my work.

I haven't been able to watch SG-1 since we stopped getting Showtime during S2. However, I have been foloowing it on the net. It kind of sucks when you know a lot about these really great shows, but have only seen 20 episodes or so out of 200+. However, I do catch it whenever I can... every once in awhile I will in syndication. I did get to see part of Stargate: Atlantis premiere. Only because I was in Walla Walla, WA, staying at a Holiday Inn Express. What I saw (the last hour) was good. The whole pseudo-vampire thing actually frightened my wife. It's been great watching her slowly get more and more into watching sci-fi. She is willing to watch ST & SW. I've actually piqued her interest in B5, though not quite enough to get her to actually sit down and watch it, just ask questions like crazy whenever I'm watching it. But I have gotten her to fall in love with Smallville. While I know that is superhero scifi, I figure, anything I can do to get her closer to watching scifi is good. But I digress.

Love Stargate: SG1. Wish it was on a channel I actually received. And then I would wish it was on sometime between 4am - 7am, since I usually don't get home from work until sometime around then. 60 hour weeks suck.

Stargate moved to SciFi a season or two after you stopped watching. The run the episodes from previous seasons and braodcast the new ones.

Just a progress report...

I'm almost at the end of Season 1, and am enjoying the show. Lots of cool concepts and races are being introduced, all of it making me wish there was some big B5-like uber story coming out if this, but cool to watch regardless. I can tell this is going someplace, and I want to find out more!

On the B5 side, we just watched 'The Coming of Shadows', and my gf was most impressed. She was particularly moved at the scene with G'kar buying Londo the drink... she said she was feeling so bad for G'kar at that moment that she felt like crying. Ahhhh... I love it!

I was amazed at how many people ended up with recurring roles. I like that continuity

Oh man, it's great to be with people as they get deeper into the show. I think I've converted about 10 people since I got hooked last year, and I made it a point to host B5 marathons at my place when a convert would be approaching some key episode(s) in a season.

The best was when I had about 6 guys over to watch the remainder of Season 3, starting at Ship of Tears. At the end of War Without End, part 2, most were staring dumbfounded at the t.v., one guy was holding his head, repeating "Holy sh--..." over and over, and one was yelling other colorful exclamations at the screen.

I was giggling... like a school girl.

Yep. B5 has become a tradition with a group of old High School friends of mine and myself. They are SF fans from the old days, and got the later b5 series on their own, but didn't watch them until we could all get together and watch them at my place. They recognized (or at least pretended) that I had turned them on to the series and so earned the right to show each ep to them for the first time myself.

Much cryings at the end. grumbler proud as papa.

I have the SG-1 series through Season 6 and like them a lot. I will get 7-9 when the series is done.
