*sigh* Guess you didn't grow up in the 80s.

Fraggle Rock. Kids muppet show. Aired on HBO for a while, repeats trickled down to the network. The things lived in caves, had tails puffy hair and all sorts of singing and dancing and stuff. The "real world" was "outer space", which there was little contact with, due to the old man inventor and his Fraggle-chasing dog that blocked the only hole out. Gobo, Red, Wembly, Boober, Mokey, the leaders of the pack.

How can a B5 fan, someone claiming understanding of what that show so wonderfully depicted, make such harsh and racial statements?
Harsh...yes...indeed, the leftist media...opps...the media frenzy/name calling and just plain poor loser attitudes have got me fed up. The way I read most of the responses it looks like you people are happy to see those political supporters being abused. And me racist? How is it that my statement is racist? Because I used the term Brown shirts? Or is it because I said foreigners have no business involved in our politics. Perhaps your speaking of my nationalistic stance. I do believe in the sovereignty of nations. If the Palestinian students are citizens of the U.S. then I don't have a problem with them sticking their 2 cents in. I 'assumed' they are not citizens of the U.S.. Let me set the record straight. I believe in 1 race, the human race. I have put my physical well being at risk too many times and helped too many people to quietly stand-by and accept the title of racist. But we live in a world of nations and Palestinians(people w/o a nation ) have NO business trying to intimidate politico's in the U.S.. Please C.E. expand on this, for I don't see the racism in my statement. Open my eyes to the truth, if they are truly closed.
My agenda requires it. I seek understanding.

I am not involved in the internal affairs of any other nation. As for the past & present business practices of U.S. mega-corp.'s and the U.S. governments involvement in the affairs of other nations, well I have no control over that situation.

However, there are *many* levels of security forces. Nightwatch was specifically a top-level mandated program. Which isn't to say that what was reported isn't a matter of concern, it's just a much lower level.
Okay so the orders didn't come from the president of the U.S. But maybe they did have a wink and a nod from the schools administration, which is all it took for some people to degrade others for decades...err centruries here in this, the greatest country on earth.
Think back to "The Illusion of Truth" and recognize how what people actually said was slanted to fit what Clark's regime wanted portrayed.
You are referring to how ISN took most statements out of context, are you not? Even after you strip away all the garnish, it still comes down to some people attempting to intimidate others through the threat of physical violence and security doing nothing. That is wrong.

And this article only has one(viewpoint) - that of the Republican who says he was attacked. Any facts later presented - like the 25,000 terrorist attacks that were nowhere near SFSU - are only in support of that singular viewpoint. The police chief is in meetings and can't comment - you can take that as convenient or not, for either side. Any comments from the attacking Palestinians are not even looked for.
          Game, set, match to Radhil.

And don't write me off as a 'muppet'.

P.S. Now, just as C.E. said 'I am terribly dismayed right now and saddened' that anything I might have said was racist.

Cruiser, perhaps racist was a bit strong. But we here in the US have got to learn to realize that our decisions, for president, for senate, for economy and ecology affect the rest of the world in very profound ways.

Conservatives love to yell at those in the media, those in entertainment, etc, something to the effect of, " You have a responsibility for your actions because you're in the public view and have influence. Take responsibility! Realize your words and deeds affect those who call themselves your fans."

Well...hypocrytical actions like that really irk me about the right. It's fine to say that sort of thing to someone in the entertainment biz, but god forbid we say it to ourselves as a nation. And believe me, the consequences of our actions as a nation are many millions of times more grave and serious than any rocker or actor or writer.

This is no longer the world of the Middle Ages or the great kings and nations. This world of ours is shrinking...massively. It's going to become more and more difficult to seperate people and keep views and prejudices active because now people can talk to others around the world and find out that they're people, too.

The economies of nations hinge on each other. We've become too intertwined and more and more joined each day.

Nationalistic views are becoming archaic, yet people here and abroad seem to be grasping at them as if they were their last breath. As suppose Kirk was right, "People can be frightened of change."

Under the surface our leaders know...the world is too dependant now. One needs the other.

Do they (the Palestinians, or any other nation) have a right to yell at us? Considering the mess we, the US, have made in the world, in places we don't have to see or deal with daily...yes.

We, the US, don't like it when France is found to be violating some treaty or sanction. Damn those French!

Yet, Americans seem to have their heads in the sand over the fact that the US has done the same thing repeatedly. We comdemn another nations for it when it's against our interest and do it ourselves when we feel like it.

We sell our advanced weapons around the world to prop up one or another dictator when it's against our common enemy, but don't care when it doesn't affect us.

Such meddling on such a massive scale is bad karma. And I seriously fear we're coming due for karmic payback in a big way.

We Americans need to learn a little thing called humility. And realize that we do affect the world and show a bit of responsibility and concern for our actions.

I could continue...but my fingers are pooped and my head is as well from all this deep thinking this early in the morning.

Bottom line...I do feel a friendship and respect for ZHDD and Cruiser, as well as most all of the more conservative (I know, I know no labels) types on here. I do respect your views (much more than I do others of the right most of the time). Our sometimes heated discussions are, to me, a chance at dialogue and greater understanding. Though I do confess there are times when I want to slap a few of you across the face and in my best Cher say, "Snap out of it!"

I am amazed at some of the things that you guys say, but I do admitt that you most likely aren't saying exactly what it seems to read as the majority of the time.

We are all friends here and sometimes I say things as I would to a dear friend...someone I would not hold out on, but would say my thoughts the way I feel them.

Consider that a compliment...it is fully intended to be such.

Well, you probably recognize that while my views differ, the fact that I can even talk about stuff like gay marriage means that I am a person that is respectful. And I appreciate that recognition.

I don't think anyone here is so extreme as to say "kill'em all" about the opposite side, and that is a great thing. I have seen far worse dialogues concerning politics, where tact is thrown to the wind and tempers run high.

Now, let's all join hands and sing the "Untitled Telepath Song."
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

<<To press their argument, PETA activists plan demonstrations starting next month at selected seafood restaurants nationwide. PETA also will urge changes in commercial fishing practices, for example proposing that trawler crews stun fish before cutting them up.

<<Since Nov. 1, adults without children may select items in the children's section, but they cannot read books or loiter in the department, said Marilyn Hoffman, a library spokesperson.

Although Hoffman said no specific incident led to the new rules, Orlando police arrested a man in August after a 15-year-old girl said he tried to molest her at the downtown library.>>

                                Measure targets lobbyist influence
By Jim Abrams, Associated Press | January 19, 2007

The Senate, on a 55-to-43 vote, approved an amendment pushed by Senator Robert Bennett, Republican of Utah, to strip a provision requiring reporting of grass roots lobbying. Backers said it would shine light on special-interest groups that use "hired guns" to organize mass mailings, phone-ins, or e-mail campaigns. Opponents, including the American Civil Liberties Union and conservative groups such as the Traditional Values Coalition, argued that it was a free-speech issue.
