Unfortunately, yeah ... Kerry called to concede, even though he was still in it.

Here's a message to everyone who voted for Bush - (Moderated- Omaha's unhappy).

To those who voted for Nader and the other 3rd parties - Where were you? You helped Bush win. What the f---(Moderated) were you thinking?

To those who voted for Kerry - We won. Bush and his goons stole it again. Bush was *not* re-elected ... He was never elected the first time!

If I am to be forced to watch this country slide deeper into the pit, I am not permitting myself the luxury of the petty comforting thought that we were cheated out of it. That it's all somehow unfair, and thus should be different.

The country has asked for Bush. The country shall receive. Do not forget it.

My heart has sunken. This president was re-elected using fear and prejudice to win. That, to me, is no moral victory.

I would hope against hope that he would come out and sincerely attempt to mend fences, to reach across the aisle, to create a more lasting peace and foster hope and understanding, to leave a better and more uplifting legacy.

However, I seriously doubt he will.

Bush used the Evangelical Christians (I do hope they realize they were used and manipulated) to win this thing by fostering prejudice against gays...just look at the number of states that have passed gay marriage amendments. Ironically, just a about a week or so ago, he stated he would be open to Civil Unions.

Now he's open to Civil Unions? Now that he used the threat of a Constitutional amendment against gay marriage as a bludgeon to energize and hype the mob mentality of the Christian right? (This is why I hope they realize they were used and dooped.)

My fear now (and this is mainly why this election was so incredibly personal to me) is that he's reinvigorated the anti-gay sentiment to the point that I must now fear a sharp rise in gay bashings. Where we had made such progress, we are now facing a rising anti-gay atmosphere and high prejudice and bigotry, all thanks to a president to would say and do anything to win re-election. We are slipping backwards in social enlightenment.

He won, now I must face bigotry and the threat of being bashed to death because he incited the mob against people like me and Omahastar.

Not to mention an ever rising deficit, that will most likely continue to increase exponentially over the next four years.

I would love to hope that he will indeed change the tone of Washington as he promised to do four years ago. That he will now make peace in our government and seek a greater peace and cooperation around the world, to bring the world back to us and us back to the world.

I do not, however, believe he will do this. I also now fear the real threat of more war, more bloodshed, more anger, more hatred, and god forbid, World War Three.

We have been the bully in the playground for four years, and now the world just learned that the bully gets to stay for four more. If we, the United States, fall now....I truly believe we will fall alone and no one will reach out to help us.

The world stands with a majority against us, even more now than ever.

For myself, my family and friends, for the nation, and for the world,
I fear, deeply and profoundly, for tomorrow.

I don't know that we've _ever_ had a fair election. The stuff I've been reading on Michael Moore's website today has made me even more depressed - stories of rampant voter fraud and intimidation _everywhere_. Not just Florida. Not just Ohio.

Anyway, it's true that Kerry lost. We have to face that. We also have to face that apparently the majority of our US citizens prefer an ignorant, venal, provincial liar as a leader. Sheesh.

I'm not just depressed at the thought of four more years of Bush - there's also the prospect of him placing up to four judges on the Supreme Court; there's the fact that so many states voted so overwhelmingly to ban gay marriage (where is the love, people??); there's the fact that with Ashcroft remaining as Attorney General, Cheney is not likely to be prosecuted for his illegal actions while CEO of Halliburton (dealing with countries against whom we had sanctions); and, the fact that I think this seeming-mandate for Bush is going to make us a target for another massive attack on our soil.

It's a shame - we used to be the greatest country in the world. Now, our reputation is squandered, and is likely to get worse. If we think Bush was bad for the past four years, imagine how he's going to be with absolutely no accountability (this time, he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected).

I heard a news anchor say today that "the second term is for securing the president's place in history." I fear greatly what that means for George W. Bush.

Despite their delusions, those who seek to ban gay marriage are not possessed of love -- only selfishness and self-righteousness. But that seems to me to be the main qualities of such a great, great number of people that try to associate Christ to themeselves and their own desires and biases. Love is too much to ask of them, it seems. Being glad and rejoicing that two people capable of bringing joy into each others' lives and that those two want to declare to the universe their intentions to forge a life together and allow them to receive the same legal benefits granted by the government to such declaring straight couples is not something those who seek to ban gay marriage are capable of doing. Love of God? Christ-like? My ass. If Christ were to come today, they would be the ones lining up to kill him again.

Used is correct. The only reason why those anti-gay marriage bills were on the ballot was to make sure the radical right went to the polling booths, helping to insure the President was also voted in.

Machiavelli would be proud.

At least here in Colorado we put Salazar into the Senate (replacing Ben Knighthorse Campbell).
