  • ZOMBIES & Babylon 5!

I was rewatching George Romero's Zombie trilogy as well as the "Night..." remake and I noticed that there are strong ties within the cast and crew of the Romero films and B5. We all know that JMS noticed Pat Tallman in the remake. But then of course there is Tony Todd. But how many have noticed, during the credit run of "DAY OF THE DEAD", the name of John Vulich? Doing what? Well he plays a zombie, AND is a part of the prosthetics team. In the documentary, also on the disk, Tom Savini mentions how people use wearing the make-up as a step to producing the make-up.

    Anyone know of any others?

I watched that one with pat in it .

She was tough as nails and made it out alive.

That is really the only reason I watched it.

It was a OK remake but for some reason originals are always (most of them anyway) better. I did not know any other B5 members were in it.

As far as other movies or shows you will see Bruce or Claudia.

So really those are the only 3 I have seen after B5 quit running.

Oddly enough, I thought I saw an ad tonight for a movie with TWO B5 alumni, but it turned out to only be one. Kent Broadhurst who played Major Krantz was instantly recognizeable in AMC's ad for its Halloween showing of Stephen King's Silver Bullet, but I also thought I saw Macaulay Bruton (who played Garibaldi's second) in the ad. But alas, it was not him, as I looked up the movie on IMDb. If I had known that the movie was from 1985, then I wouldn't even have checked, as Bruton was probably too young to be in it.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

And let's not forget the recent DVD release of the Dawn of the Dead Remake. One of the special features on the DVD is an ongoing newsreport of the crisis, and the anchor is our dearly departed Richard Biggs. I'll admit it was kinda hard to watch since this was the last (far as I know) piece of work he did... and his final lines gave me a lump in the throat considering his passing.

In the same feature, Bruce Boxleitner has a audio only cameo as the voice of the U.S. President... and I believe that the company responsible for producing the special features is the same one that did the B5 DVD special feature. I'm reaching there, but hey, it's something!

This I did NOT know! I've just bought that but have n't watched it yet. I will be watching it on Saturday night with my fiancee 'Firebird'. Oh how sad that will be!

Just this evening my family and I watched "...And the Rock Cried Out 'No Hiding Place!' " with Rick's walkabout-finding-himself-stabbed piece. It was very dificult to watch such a vibrant, young and healthy person playing the part..saying the words. How sad.

Walkabout? Shadow Dancing? I know it wasn't in AtRCONHP.

I would have a lump in my throat too.

How long ago was thr remake DoTD put out?

Bet you didn't know that Claudia Christian was the voice of the fairy godmother in Shrek 2 (or maybe you did).

I did not know that... very cool!

The DotD remake was released in theaters this past March, and the DVD just came out this week. If you were unaware of the remake and are a "Romero Purist", be warned that it is quite different from the original... pretty much sharing the name and the fact that people take shelter in a mall are the only similarities.

No I didn't, because she isn't. The Fairy Godmother is Jennifer Saunders...

She apparently was in the video game. Which I don't think is quite the same thing.

Spotted a certain Technomage on Charmed last night.

He made a pretty good Demon, too.

I was watching the unrated directors cut last night.
It's a pity those scenes were not in the theatrical release. Zack Snyder must be a B5 fan. I loved Richard Biggs' scenes, especially where he announces the nuking in China and when he was looking for the rescue stations. Too cool! It was eerie to hear him saying he was "coming home." I still can't believe he is gone. Bruce does have a presidential voice. It would have been supremely cool to see him in one of the news conferences.

Did anyone think the Sec of Defense in the movie looked like a very-aged Sheridan?

We ALL make mistakes, said the Dalek climbing off the dustbin.

I shall have to get the DVD of the Dawn of the Dead remake.

Romero is apparently working on a new one called (I think) Land of the Dead, which follows his original idea for Day of the Dead, Having trained zombies protecting walled citys of the remaining living. AND Zombies in Washington.
