They really should leave this alone and let it die. The last film was utter drivel. In fact everything after T2 was utter drivel. Hollywood needs some fresh blood and to invest in new ideas. Yay, more reboots.
Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

Very nice, I have been waiting for this for decades.
My posts are my own opinion and do not represent JMSNews.com's opinions or views. As it's written under my handle I'm "just a fan".

You are completely correct in that Hollywood needs some new ideas. The vast majority of films and television for that matter over the past couple of decades has been sequels, prequels, re-boots and/or based on some kind of book/comic. Then of course lets not forget re-releases of old films that have either been re-mastered, converted into so called 3D, or something else.

Yep. I highly doubt this move will suddenly make everyone want to see the movie. Personally I love the idea, but for the fact that it is such an OBVIOUS gimmick to keep trying to milk it. So true that this franchise died after T2. The reality is that making a good, successful, and worthy follow up to T2 was next to impossible. Their first mistake, not paying Hamilton whatever she wanted back then to be in the third movie. Now trying to bring her back more than twenty years later to keep milking it just seems pathetic, not as a slight against her at all. I mean she definitely DESERVES to be in another one of these movies, but the movie they will likely come up with won't deserve her. I am crossing my fingers it is a big success for her, but I gave up on these movies after I wasted my time and money on the third installment. I've seen the other movies, but just because they were available for me to see with no effort on my part.

I think it has to do with the companies looking for something that they already own and can do something with it. Top Gun 2 anyone?

What was it? Forbidden Planet? Let's do an exact remake with new actors and new effects, but not add anything to it. Why? Because we own the rights to it.

            Feh.

Don't know about that but the script JMS wrote in 2008/2009 was very different.

Getting really sick of reboots and sequels at the cinema. I guess I need to go back to underground / world cinema to get my dose of 'good' film making.

(and yes, me wishing for a B5 movie / re-imaginging is a bit of a double standard. Pot. Kettle. Black).

DDC2017 did you just reboot yourself?

And yes it is all about milking money out of what they already own. That is the only reason I have hope that Warner Brothers will get behind a JMS led reboot. They may not own the movie rights, but they own enough of the franchise to make huge profits off of its success.

(I think. Does owning the movie rights give JMS ownership of the movie merchandise and distribution rights as well, ie anything specifically relating to a Babylon 5 movie?)

Looney, It's a Windoze10 upgrade so there may be side effects.

Regarding my Forbidden Planet comments, I just remember Harlan Ellison was fussing about the tinkering going on at the time.

And James Cameron...Avatar 2 in 2020. Then Avatar 3,4.....3D no glasses?

SAY WHA?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I have to wear my glasses to see.

I am REALLY wondering how good Avatar 2 will be. The only reason I want to see it is because Cameron is doing it. Avatar seems like a movie that shouldn't become a franchise (like Blade Runner), but if it is his franchise then I am interested. Now, will Linda Hamilton be in that or are the wounds of divorce still too deep all of these years later?
