I still haven't seen the rest, not been motivated to come back after it turned into 'nasty alien eats people'.

I'm currently up to date with this and am slightly disappointed with the way it's playing out. I've put my thoughts in [spoiler mode] to ensure I don't ruin anything for anyone!

Onec we hit episode 6 onwards, Extant started to feel like an extended 'monster of the week' thing, and I had really hoped there was more depth to the Alien and its motives in coming to Earth. A real shame, as the tone of the earlier episodes really appealed to me. I'll keep wathcing to see how it concludes, but I feel it's gone downhill.

Hopefully we'll get more information on the immortality aspect of the alien entity. But right now it feels like a slickly produced version of invasion of the body snatchers or something. Is it just me, or was there a definite shift in tone once the alien got out and started 'feeding'.

Hopefully the show will redeem itself, there's still time!

This counts as "proper" sci fi for me, my friend Shayne however, refuses to watch it as he cannot stand halle Berry.

So, overall, I am enjying it and look forward to more.

Yeah, it's solid. Reminds me of a lot of 90s SF shows, but with infinitely higher production values. I'm not the worlds biggest Halle Berry fan either, but she'd good in this.

I've avoided the show primarily because it was overly publicized. The commercial struck me as really bad science fiction. I may reconsider based on Ubik's comments.

    started a topic Extant

    Extant

Anyone watching? High quality SF so far, and better than I expected what with Spielberg attached. (Not a fan of his recent work, but he's exec producer, so hands off enough for it not to be sentimental bollocks).
