  • Best fan made film you have seen?

There were a few things that caught my eye on Sunday, most notably a fan made trailer for a live action Akira film. And I don't mean a collection of scenes from other films cut together to resemble a trailer, I mean an original production shot from scratch.

This is just superb work, and pretty much compresses the entire film into five minutes. Fan made productions seem more and more viable these days.

I also just watched these Italian Star Wars fan films 'Dark Resurrection Vol 0' and Vol 1. Whilst it's still clearly a fan production done on a small budget, I thought the production values were very impressive and the acting was no worse than the prequels! In many respects I enjoyed these far more than the prequel films because they play fast and loose with the Universe and inject some cool ideas. On the whole a really enjoyable effort. Looking forward to Vol 2 which they crowd funded.

Another one that occurs to me is the Batman vs. Predator vs. Alien short film. Sounds awful doesn’t it? Not so… I was really impressed how well done this was executed.

There's also a really good Judge Dredd universe fan film out there too... Again, massively impressive production values and it really captures the feel of the universe.

So, that’s the best fan film you’ve seen?

I remain surprised that we’ve not seen any live action B5 fan films or ‘web series’, when there are so many for Trek!

    Kosh: Good!

That Judge Dredd film was great.

If you're a fan of the Fallout video game series then you must watch this.

The second season begins October 28th.Facebook: https://facebook.com/WaysideCreationsTwitter: https://twitter.com/WaysideTweets

    Brilliant! And very funny ...

"I wanted to make a fan film for a character I've always loved and believed in - a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It's been a blast to be a part of from start to finish -- we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it." - Thomas Jane

Star Trek Aurora is CGI animation and like all fan films a real labor of love.

One guy alone created the script, graphics, animation, and with the help of his wife the voice work.

I like Aurora best because it's in the TOS 'verse but not the federation.
        - A freighter captain and her Romulan war era ship.

The first film is complete and can be seen in full.
Part one of the second film has been posted too.

I'd love to see full CGI B5 animation!

Starship Troopers did it with animated 'Roughneck Chronicles'

"There are no good wars. War is always the worst possible way to resolve differences. It degenerates and corrupts both sides to ever more sordid levels of existence, in their need to gain an advantage over the enemy. Those actively involved in combat are almost always damaged goods for the rest of their lives. If their bodies don't bear scars, their minds do, ofttimes both. Many have said it before, but it can't be said to enough, war is hell. "

I've seen this. It's more convincing that ANY of the Punisher films produced by big budget studios. Pitch perfect.
