  • Another BSG reboot

Universal Studios is preparing to start work on a Battlstar Galactica movie.
Could it be that they are desperately looking through their portfolio for something to compete with Marvel/Disney/LucasFilm?
    - and what of Warner Bros, what do they have?

Well, they own DC... Which is quite a bit even if the Marvel movies outdo them all the time. ETA: I'm not familiar with any of their other TV properties except Veronica Mars - the famous fan-financed movie.

Warners has a Godzilla movie coming out in May that looks pretty good.

The big lizard is always a safe bet for a profitable movie, so let the stomping, screaming and running begin.

It's my hope that one day WB remembers they have a space station too

This really does seem very silly when the rebooted BSG TV series was so successful, and is still very much part of the collective consciousness. I know of few SF shows that won so many 'non SF fans' as viewers. Even my ‘non-geek’ friends have seen the series. Seems crazy not to capitalise on that.

Although, I suppose they can’t expect the general cinema going public to have seen the series (somewhat like Serenity, which was a bit stilted because it had to be reset for new viewers). Still, I don’t quite understand what they hope to gain from this, other than a quick buck.

I remain very surprised no one has tried to re-boot B5 into a film franchise yet.

Captain John Sheridan: I really *hate* it when you do that.

        Kosh: Good!

            try again.

All the studios are in it for a quick buck.

JMS is not in the quick buck business.

It was nicer the first post, but it was lost in the void. Maybe Galen will find it.

Anything BSG related that takes as canon the final episode of the TV show is deservedly doomed imo. I'm of the group that sees that conclusion to the series as a major failure on several levels.

Why would I want to watch Caprica or anything else BSG related given the futility of all endeavor that goes along with the series canon?

The first few seasons were mostly awesome. I think the show went too far out on the limb that has a pot of gold on the end, and that had the limb snap off. Lol, clumsy metaphor but that show did lose its way, imo.

Since the BSG reboot was one clumsy metaphor after another, it fits The problem with BSG was that it took itself way too seriously, and somewhere in the middle seasons Ron Moore decided he was a genius who had the most brilliant idea ever and was going to drag it out and build and build and build until the most epic finale in the history of mankind. It was just so full of itself, and it drove me crazy. Zero interest in a reboot reboot.

Maybe a Maltese Falcon type of ending would have satisfied. It's the search, the adventure, that matters and gives meaning.

Though the robotic Cylons did continue on. But who was emotionally invested in them?
