To be honest, I don't think the sort of universe depicted in Nolan's films could believably cross over with Superman. What made people appreciate them (the "gritty realism" etc.) is also what makes the sudden appearance of an alien with superpowers narratively absurd.

From what I have read about this movie, it doesn't sound like a reboot.
From what I have read it sounds like the story about Bale being offered fifty million dollars to return as Batman was just based on speculation and not an actual offer.

Christopher Nolan was involved with Man of Steel and his IMDB page now has him producing Batman vs. Superman (2015), the title I did not want to see associated with this movie. (I also doubt that will be the actual title and is just a working title.) Having said this and the fact that the role has been recast I can't imagine this is not a reboot. I just can't buy that Nolan would take the Dark Knight from his trilogy and bring him into this Man of Steel universe. I also can't imagine that he would do it in a "VS" capacity either and that is what the project title is right now.

And I wanted to emphasize that it is being called BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN. So what they gained with me by casting Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor they have now flushed away with this title.

How about Batman vs. Alien vs. Predator?!?

It's quite a well made film for a fan production! Probably better than the nonsense we'll see in 2015.

Ubik does it again! Not only an entertaining link, but the truth about what should happen in the Man of Steel sequel.

And here is yet another idea about the Affleck Batman choice. Isn't it possible that Affleck's Batman will not be Bruce Wayne? It seems to me that there was discussion about the continuation of the Dark Knight storyline having to possibly take place with someone other than Bruce Wayne as Batman, i.e. Robin or mystery person. Am I wrong or is it possible that Affleck's Batman will not be Bruce Wayne?

From what I've heard, Batman will be 'an older' Bruce Wayne. I heard some of the film may be loosely modeled after Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns', where Batman is forced out of retirement.

I think Ben Affleck is as atrocious a choice as he is an actor. However, we got our good trilogy, to let DC do what they want.

Happy 10-year anniversary to JMSNews Forums, BTW!
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
