Hahaha, yes... Saga does feature some distinctly 'adult content'.
I'm glad it kept your attention and that you thought to go back to have a closer look at Fiona Staples artwork (which I think is pretty amazing when you factor in this story was produced in monthly installments. Even if it wasn't, it's still VERY good).
I think reading comics takes a little bit of time to adjust to. It's a different medium to film or prose and communicates on two different levels (purely visual and the written word). Even something as seemingly subtle as the layout of a page defines the tempo and how your read it. A well constructed page will lead the eye naturally across the panels. For example, Alan Moore's Watchmen does some crazy clever stuff with mirrored page layouts and adheres to a strict nine panel grid. With comics you're receiving information on a number of levels, and it does often pay to go back and take it all in properly, once you're done burning through it for the sake of plot.
How can you not be taken with the 'Lying Cat'?!?
I'm glad you at least enjoyed aspects of it, and I thought it had 'epic story arc' written all over it, hence my recommendation to fellow B5 fans. Perhaps re-read it some time in the near future and see if your assessment changes at all. In any case, it's an example of a what I consider to be a very fine comic and trust me there's a LOT of crap out there!Last edited by Ubik; 06-06-2013, 06:10 AM.

SAGA - a Looney Look
UBIK made me look at a dirty comic!
So what do I have to say about the world of SAGA? Hmmmm. . . I hate to break it to you Ubik, but I canÆt say I love it. I do, however, like it and find it entertaining. One thing I find very interesting about this story is that I was so wrapped up in reading it that I really didnÆt notice the artwork and had to go back to look more closely when I was finished. I have never really read comic books, so I am not authority on the subject. Maybe most people donÆt notice the artwork on their first time through and have to go back to really look at it. I also found SAGA to be interesting enough reading that I sat down and read most of it in one sitting. IÆm sure that doesnÆt sound like a big deal to most people who read this format regularly, but I am a slow reader so it means something to me.
This universe isnÆt really my cup of tea, but the writing is engaging and I kept wanting to read what came next. Reading this was definitely worth the $5.63 I spent on it. If you are looking for something well done and a little different then I can highly recommend picking up SAGA for a read, especially if you can get it around the low price I paid.

Ordered!
I don't usually order recommendations immediately, but the Volume One Graphic novel was only $5.63 on Amazon. How could I pass that up with your recommendation!?I'll have it by Friday.

Saga by Brian K Vaughan & Fiona Staples
I burned through the first TPB last night, and this is one of the most superb SF comics I've laid eyes on since Carla Speed McNeil's 'Finder'.
It has epic scope, beautiful art, smart dialogue and truly alien character designs. I just know this will appeal to B5 fans. Here's an interview with Brain K Vaughan and a few preview pages from issue 1. This is definitely my new favourite comic, so wanted to share that with you!Do yourself a favour and pick up the first collected volume, you'll thank me.
