Alas, all of my favorite authors, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert A. Heinlein and now Ray Bradbury, are no longer with us.

I'll always remember him as a kind man, generous with his time, and with a very snarky sense of humor. I'm glad I got the chance to meet him (along with Ray Harryhausen, Forry Ackerman, and Greg Bear) back in 98. He was a very bright light in such a dark world. RIP, Ray, and thanks for the memories.

An autobiographical essay by Ray Bradubury only published in the New Yorker the other day:

Just before his death, in 2012, Ray Bradbury wrote about his grandfather and the birth of his love for science fiction: “I would go out to that lawn on summer nights and reach up to the red light of Mars and say, ‘Take me home!’ ”

Remembering his joy at discovering speculative fiction. To quote another author, "Shared joy is increased".

Yes - a bit sad, but let us rejoice in what he wrote, and be happy he did.

    RIP Ray Bradbury

Ray Bradbury — author of The Martian Chronicles, Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and many more literary classics — died this morning in Los Angeles, at the age of 91.

    Very sad to hear this.
