    Saw it yesterday.

Okay, I could tell right away this was a Whedon film.

First time in a LONG time I remember the audience actually cheering and clapping at a scene.

    The scene in question?

    Loki: Starts to monologue.
    Hulk: Nope.

I will forever refer to it as the "I whip my heir back and forth" scene.

('cause Loki was Odin's adpoted son, get it?)

Coulson: Surprise badass of the movie.

Was seriously the most fun I've had at the movies in a long time. Wanna see it again.

That scene with the Hulk was great, and there were a couple of others that were pretty neat, but as a whole the movie did not impress me. I found it competent but sort of soulless, and the action was straight out of Transformers: over the top to the point of exhaustion.

Nope ... Hulk says "Puny god!"

This movie surprised me. I really didn't like the two Hulk movies. So here we are with yet another variation on the same tired character? Boring. Except, not at all. I loved when Hulk and ... was it Thor, maybe? have brought down the giant worm, they're both breathing hard, and Hulk punches him.

And when Hulk and Thor are on the ship, Hulk's trying to pick up the hammer. That was comedy gold, as far as I'm concerned.

That's another thing about this movie - it's funny. Most action movies have a little bit of humor right at the beginning, and then it's without humor for the rest of the movie. This one had humor sprinkled through the whole thing, right up to and including the final after-credits scene.

Loved the cameo by General Ivanova's secretary. Romy Rosemont, I believe, is the actress's name. She is also appearing in the other movie Whedon directed during Avengers downtime.

I've seen it twice now, and will almost certainly see it at least twice more while it's still in theaters. But before I do, I want to go back and re-watch the Iron Man, Thor, and Captain Hottie movies.

Agreed, Omaha. It was a really fun movie and one of the only movies I've seen at that 2 1/2 hour length where I don't fumble with my phone or look at the time to see when it's going to be over.

I guess to Jonas' point, it wasn't a particularly deep plot. Jan and I have talked about how that's a problem with team superhero comic books in general. You can't really get that depth when you have to highlight so many characters and shove them all into the same situation.

Interestingly enough, I thought Joss really gave each character good screen time, gave them each a good arc, made them each have their own unique motivations and you could point out any line in the movie as "That's cap!" or "That's Thor!" so he did a good job on the character front. Just impossible to really get a deep plot in addition to that, but I don't think you can go into a movie like Avengers looking for Changeling.

As far as action goes - it's a superhero team movie. Action should be over the top, in my opinion. With the rest of the continuity, you've seen what kind of action the heroes can handle by themselves. So you have to have something bigger and crazier to merit them all together. I was impressed by how they each were able to contribute with purpose through their action, which is no easy task for a film like this.

Just saw the Avengers Movie tonight.
Joss Whedon did a hell of a job there! Well, that's not a big surprise. But I'm still very impressed. I really loved the chemistry between the different characters. And the scene during the credits showing Thanos whets the appetite for more...
Also RD jr. was once again fabolous as Iron Man.

I loved when Hulk and ... was it Thor, maybe? have brought down the giant worm, they're both breathing hard, and Hulk punches him.
Heh, yeah! That was funny. Especially the snort he gave in his direction after that.
As for the previous Hulk movies: I loved it when RD jr. came into that bar at the end of the last one with Ed Norton. And also the one scene featuring the music from the old tv series.

Too bad most people in the theatre didn't realize the one guy stating that he doesn't believe in super heroes in an interview was Stan himself.

I wasn't quoting, I was giving the briefest possible summation of the scene (and trying to avoid spoiling exactly what happens - which I then gave away immediately anyway. )

              Oh, well.

Saw it last night and enjoyed it a lot. There were some nice character moments mixed in with the classic Joss Whedon banter.

I'm *really* glad I didn't see it in 3-D, though. I'm sure all the stuff flying around would have annoyed me.

You're also glad you didn't see it in 3-D because it was shot in 2D and then they just added shit flying around! You got the more real experience!

I thought it was fun, now that I"m a bit distant from it. I don't know if it's something I'd see over and over like a lot of my friends are doing.

I thought Tom Hiddleston stepped up and sold Loki as being a supervillain. I've enjoyed him on Wallander, but he really put in a performance here.

As for the film, I got the same feeling that I got out of the first X-Men movie and that's not a bad thing.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
