So why are there so many UKers on these forums? Is it because the site is British (I think?) in origin, or is it because there are so many UK B5 fans out there? I am just wondering...
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Well, DougO, the Administrator is in Seattle, WA I think, so I don't think this is a British site.

But we are on UK time, right? Unless we log in?

It's called UST, which is, sort of, a Universal Standard Time.

Yes, but UST sounds more Universal. And they're almost the same...

BTW, have you joined the B5-listan? It's usually in Swedish.

i think it has a lot to do with B5 been shown fairly consistantly on Channel 4 when it first came out.

that helped produce a stable fanbase for the show (they even got the name "Channel 4" worked into the dialogue a few times).

i think we are also more used to stories that last more than a single episode, i was brought up watching Dr Who so it wasn`t such a shock to have a story told over several weeks.

as for what time zone this site is using have a look below the last post and you will see that it is GMT eg.

All times are GMT. The time now is 03:18 PM.
                sorted.

There are quite a few Scandinavians at this site as well.

                    No surprise.

B5 was very popular in Scandinavia. It wouldn't surprise me if Finland would be third country after USA and UK in B5 DVD sales. I remember there was very active online community in Finland when it first aired in Finnish TV. Finnish B5 newsgroup thank you letter to JMS was "signed" by up to 300 people, thats not bad number from online community. I still remember reading Leopolds episode analysis after episode aired and reading firstones spoiler free episode mini-reviews to see what to expect (wham or filler).

Newbies who watch it from DVD 2-3 episodes a day are missing all the fun.

Usually for me, when I am not logged in, it shows GMT, but when I am logged in, it has my time zone.

Many many servers are left on GMT no matter what time zone the server actually lives in. Most of the software running assumes the system clock is on GMT so the calculation between "system time" and each user's "actual time" comes out right.

That, and they ask you for your time zone when you register?

Yep. That is why they ask you your local time zone, so they can display all timestamps to you in your correct local time.

The site software calculates the local time for each user as SYSTEM_TIME + (User's Local Time Zone Adjustment). For me, that local Adjustment is -7 hours (Mountian standard time in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, USA).

The calculation assumes that SYSTEM_TIME is set to GMT. If the server was set to Washington State time (Pacific USA) instead, everyone's time calculations would be 8 hours off.
