  • Today is an asspishus day...

We all know what day it is...
A glorious day for all the proud members of the [Geek] planets.
    [Serenity Rises] Day!
The end of the [PurpleBelly] scumbags and the dawn of a new galaxy! Yeah-huh!
    ...
Six years today... The [Browncoats] sent the [PurpleBellied-Ferengi] running, pissing their pants.
(mis-quote of "Lund" in the opening scene of "The Train Job", in case there's anyone here who has not yet seen Firefly)

Yes, a shiny six years ago today (30-Sep-2005), the first Firefly movie, Serenity rose onto the Big Dang Screen.

If you feel so inclined, pop one of your Firefly/Serenity DVDs in, get your Browncoat fix, and raise a suitable beverage to toast Geekery at its second best! :shiny:

P.S. I'm confident that some day, we will get more Babylon 5.
Three sets of Firefly converts ago, he mentioned that Book was his favorite character, which I used as a lure to start him on Babylon 5 (there's five years of Delenn vs just a few good moments of Book).

P.P.S. That mis-quote might have flowed better if the forums had strike-thru enabled.
    Also, where's your "shiny" smiley?!?

Wait...that movie is SIX YEARS OLD? Fuck...
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Just re-watched the "Castle" Episode Vampire Weekend (2009)

[Music similar to the Firefly theme is playing. Castle enters dressed in a "Browncoat"-like outfit]
Alexis Castle: What exactly are you supposed to be?
      Richard Castle: Space cowboy.
Alexis Castle: Ok, there are no cows in space. didn't you wear that like five years ago?
      Richard Castle: So?
Alexis Castle: So, don't you think you should move on?
      Richard Castle: I like it.

I loved that episode. IIRC, the costumes that each of the characters wore related to previous roles, didn't they?

          "It's worse than you know."
          "It usually is."

What's scarier is that next year is the 10th anniversary of the series.

I'm really, really, really hoping for a 10th anniversary special edition DVD/Blu-ray release, with all the promos and lead-ins, plus lots of extras.

Plus, an optional special edition case containing a simulated bone of a F*X exec, carved into a flute.
This is a dream I have.

Thanks beerguy101 (and Jan) - that's also my favorite Castle moment.

Yes, that episode was filled with that kind of 'callback'

Seamus Dever character is dressed with a Doctor costume reminiscent of the one he used as Dr. Ian Devlin in General Hospital.

Detective Espisito is dressed as a soldier, mirroring Jon Huertas' role in Generation Kill as Antonio 'Poke' Espera

There is even a Buffy and Frank Miller reference.

iinm it wasn't just "Browncoat-like", I think it was Nathan's costume.

Probably was, if you look closely you can see the catalyzer Mal had to replace in "Out of Gas" on one of the shelves.
