I have not yet seen this show, but I want too. it seems similar to B5 in that they are both space shows and that both lasted 5 seasons. I was wondering if anyone here has seen Andromeda and what their thoughts on it were.

I loved it for the first season and a half. Then, sadly, the showrunner was forced out and the show deliberately dumbed down. That first season and a half, though...I thought that it might have been a worthy successor to B5.

i went ahead and ordered it since I need something new, and just because I love sci fi and really want to immerse myself in everything I can. I don't expect anything will ever remotely be as good as B5, but I still adore the genre. And space opera is my favorite kind. They don't seem to be making those anymore though. There is a whole slew of new sci fi pilots being made for next season, but none of them are space ones.

I am probably one of the few liked Andromeda all the way through.
I want to correct that Bob Engels actually replaced Robert Hewit wolfe. fans were upset when Bob took over part way through 2nd season and made it sorbo-centric. and I will admit 3rd season was quite the disaster of cheese and confusion and pointless stories, but it really redeemed itself in the end with the Tyr storyline. not to mention Gordon Michael Woolvett got a chance to write an episode and it was odd, but fun!
Andromeda really redeemed itself in the 4th and 5th seasons. it takes ideas/passing thoughts from season 2 and used them in the 5th season.
My main reason for liking andromeda, was because of the technology it used was different from what most sci-fi shows typically use. it had Slipstream, it was not Earth-Centric, Genetic Engineering was huge form of creating new species, nanobot tech, point singularity weapons, AI interfaces, sensor probes, tesseracts, and a lot more that made it unique.
It was good fun action, it was in syndication for 4 seasons so it kept the audience by being filled with action. I say give it a shot, I understand why people wouldn't like it, but there's my reasons"It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past." -- G'Kar in Babylon 5:"In the Beginning"

I have to admit that I hated this show from the very beginning, I gave it another shot during the fourth season after having stopped to watch at the end of season one, and what I saw was even worse. For me, "Andromeda" is silly in every aspect, characters, stories, effects, fight scenes, humor, I still laugh myself off when I accidentally zap into an episode regarding the - at least in my opinion - bad quality of this show. So, I would not recommend to watch it, or even pay for it. Sorry.

i like parts of Andromeda, but I still don't understand the fifth season at all. How they got there, whats going on. Why is the ship broken, why do stars have avatars now like ships. Just confusing as all get out.
I feel like Londo trying to understand the Hokey Poky. "It means nothing!" =p
Its a great idea, but not sure it every worked completely."Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOW - What a RIDE!"

I'm surprised this series even went as far as 5 seasons. I watched a few of the early episodes and tried to get into it, but had a hard time. Every once in a while I'll stumble across an episode on television and try to watch it and just keep scratching my head and asking, huh?
Perhaps if I had the time to watch the series from the beginning, I might find a way of getting into it more.

Trace always was the avatar of a star. Other star avatar turn up. The captain had to become a super being to help the other stars.Andrew Swallow
