    The store.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

The B5 TV films will be released in a box set on Aug. 17 in the US. Complete with commentaries and other nifty extras.

The Gathering & In the Beginning were released as a 2 DVD set. ISBN 0-7907-6076-2

You might still be able to find it.

If not, see what's in the August release.

BTW, There was only One "the Gathering".

Where did the Roman numerals come from??

Probably from SFC's showing of the series. I have never seen TG on SFC, so I cannot confirm this.

            Two places.

            a. "The Gathering" has two versions the original Directors cut and the newer Executive Producers cut.

            b. Sci-Fi shows the movie as two episodes on different nights. The two halves are merged back together on the DVDs.

              Interesting coinkydink.

Just as we discuss this, I noticed copies of the DVD for Gathering & Beginning on sale at both Best Buy & Borders this afternoon.

              So, yes. It's still available.

Just remember, these are not the newly remastered versions with commentary. For the better versions of either film...wait about 3 weeks for the film boxed set.

If I was able to get it from the store then I would not post here.

Your sarcasm isn't mature nor appreciated.

you can (pre)order them at amazon.com (or amazon.co.uk R1).. i was looking for them too.

Ok i have a question about TG. I have 2 VHS copies, (i now have 2 copies of all the eps and fear i am turning into the man from conspiracy theory minus the brown soup)

anyway.. question: The copy i picked up in a second hand bookstore has a completely different cover to anything B5 i've ever seen. Not even is the font the same - its like white and diagonal and goes from big to small... G'kar is on the front and the space station. it doesn't look like a fake and the tape certainly isnt... is this then the original-ringinal release? or is it really someones (poor ) computer artwork?:

If you've happened across an original release of TG with the director's cut and the Copeland score...it's a rare find and count yourself lucky as hell. And what I wouldn't give for a copy of it.

It was only released in the UK on VHS, I believe, and later the mistake was caught and the recut was released thereafter. So only a few copies actually got out and only in Europe.

I know tons of people who would kill for a copy.

If the Artwork was "Poor", I'd bet on a ripoff copy. Probably made and sold by one of the sleazy convention video dealers.
(Not all are sleazy. Most buy their stuff legitimately. Just enough to cause problems.)

I can give Warner credit for at least providing professional quality artwork when they sell stuff.

Now, the way they drag their feet about Release Dates...

I've heard of a few Cons that have had their Dealers Rooms shut down by the FBI over this sort of thing.
Usually when someone sees their Own stuff being ripped off and makes a quick phone call.

ok i am not going to be able to watch them and check right now cos they are in storage and i'm leaving the country in 3 days

But (for the sake of a memory test ) what differences were there? what was IN the directors that wasn't in the later version? how different was the music (would i notice?) (did they get rid of the (awful) warbling ChantSingSynths used for kosh - or were they the new (fantastic) addition ?)

As to the poor artwork... what i meant was the font more than anything... (i wouldnt have picked it in a month of sundays and the '5' is in the same font and size as the text)
The picture is exactly the same as others that i've seen on the net (though they are totally different to my other copy which is grey and looks like the original VHS box-set 1 tapes.)

Is the copeland score the electirc guitar stuff?

                            ps....
and later the mistake was caught and the recut was released thereafter.
what do you mean by mistake....?

I do not think this was meant as sarcasm - I think he was just stating the obvious. The Gathering and In the Beginning has been available on DVD for several years ( I believe it was the first B5 DVD released, before the series), and if your local store is out, Amazon has them together (it is actually one double sided DVD, iirc). They also recently released just "The Gathering" by itself for $6. As mentioned, the box set containing ALL the TV movies is coming out soon and may be worth the wait. There is also, I believe, the box set for Crusade coming soon after that one. I think "A Call To Arms" TV movie goes with the Crusade set, but I am not sure.

As for two versions of The Gathering - before it aired on TNT, there was some rework on the pilot. All DVD's are the re-done "TNT" version. There were some minor changes, fixed special effects, etc. The opening sequence naration was adjusted, I think they either minimized or removed the "privacy mode" special effect for Lyta-G'Kar conversation and other things like that. I am sure there is a complete list of differences somewhere online :-)
