  • King Tut's on Tour

King Tut is coming to Toronto and I just got my tickets Apparently the exhibition is touring around various cities. It may never be out of Egypt again so if you were interested in seeing the show, now is the time.

I'd love to see it. Do you know if it's going to any other cities after Toronto?

I have tickets for the Terra Cotta Warriors of China in DC this spring. I'm looking forward to that.

It's in Toronto until April 2010, then it looks like it's off to Denver. Here's the main website for it.

According to the website the cities are San Francisco, Indianapolis, Denver and Toronto.

If it's the same exhibet I saw years ago (also in Denver, iirc) it's stunning.

I can't wait to go. I was only 10 when it came to Toronto last, and I was living in Montreal so it going to the show was out of my hands.

Saw it in Philly a few years back. Well worth going!

I went to the show on Saturday. It took about 2 hours to go through the exhibit in order to find a place amongst the other people to see the pieces and read the descriptions. There was an assortment of statues similar to things you may have seen at other museums, with the good stuff farther in.

Just as a note, there weren't any of Tut's funerary masks - they aren't allowed to leave Egypt, but there was a small mask from another person. The jewelry and canopic jars were magnificent though, so intricate and finely made, truly fit for a king. It was that much more amazing considering the tools they had to work with at the time.

I enjoyed the show and my go a second time if I get the chance.
