  • Shared Pain is Decreased

Or, to give the full quote: Shared joy is increased; Shared pain is decreased. Thus do we refute entropy.

That's a quote I learned from my second-favorite writer, Spider Robinson, long before I discovered JMS' work. For those not familiar with him, he's the creator of the "Callahan's Crosstime Saloon" series and co-author (with his wife Jeanne) of the Hugo and Nebula award winning "Stardance" novella and later, trilogy.

I've had the pleasure of meeting them both and they're two of the *nicest* people on the planet. Jeanne and I spent an afternoon together a few years ago and it's a lovely memory.

Back in February Jeanne had surgery for a rare and virulent form of biliary cancer and it appears that only forms of treatment aren't covered by the Canadian health system. So her friends and fans are doing what they can to help raise funds and I'm joining in the effort. More info about the effort can be found at Spider's site: http://www.spiderrobinson.com/index2.html or at the Dream for Jeanne site: http://wedreamforjeanne.blogspot.com/

Remember when I did the auctions for Rick Biggs' familiy? Well, I'm going to be doing it again. The first one is already up, a rare Volume 15 from the Script Books: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...STRK:MESELX:IT

Other items that will be up later are:

    - one of Claudia Christian's own B5 scripts
    - original art from JMS' 'Book of Lost Souls' by Colleen Doran
    - original art from JMS' 'Dream Police' by Mike Deodato Jr.
    - have a character named after you in an upcoming novel by DD Barant

    ...and more to be announced.

As before, I'm happy to have folks send me items to sell for the benefit. You're welcome to email or PM me.

If Spider/Jeanne and their work has touched you or if you believe in what JMS said in B5 about creating the future, please help us help a really special lady fight cancer.

    Thanks,
    Jan

I loved the Callahan series. I wish I could just donate some $, but financially we aren't in the best shape right now. I will keep her in my thoughts and hope she comes through. They are doing amazing things with cancer treatment these days.
