Congratulations to nottenst and everyone involved. It's exciting to see steps leading back to the moon. From what I've read, everything is looking good so far.

As long as you're up there, bring me back some cheese, please.

No cheese for me... just send back a few high-resolution shots of the Apollo landing sites, so that I might cram them up the rectal orifice of my local moon-landing-denier.

      With a broom handle.

Come on! What good would that do? Everyone knows NASA will just modify any hi-res shots coming back from the orbiter. The truth will NEVER be known so long as NASA contorls the mssions!

How about we all pool together some money and pay NASA to get all these people and ship them to the moon?

Back on topic, the LRO made it into Lunar orbit. Hurray!
What a wonderful world you live in. -
Yeah, well, the rent is cheap, the pay is decent and I get to make my own hours.

I had a Jack Bauer day yesterday. I was up from about 7 AM Monday and with the exception of a couple of short naps before lunch and dinner didn't get back to sleep until about 9:30 AM today. My shift was 8 PM to 8:30 AM.

The LOI-1 burn was very successful. NASA TV was filming interviews right behind me (pointing in the other direction) most of the time from 5 AM to 6:30 AM. It was quite exciting. Check out the videos on NASA TV's YouTube channel. I was wearing a pretty much solid red t-shirt and can be seen in the background at about 2:11 of 2:14 minutes of the LRO Enters Orbit Around the Moon video.

In the full "live" LRO Enters Lunar Orbit 062309 over one hour video I can be seen very briefly in the back at about 7:04 and 17:13 as the camera sweeps by. After LOI-1 completes I can be seen taking a photo at 1:05:36 for a few seconds.

You can see the NASA TV you tube videos at
NASA's mission is to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research. To do that, we have worked around the world -- and off it -- for more than 50 years, searching for answers to fundamental questions about our place in the universe. We're exploring space and discovering Earth. Join us for this exciting and important journey.

                  You're lucky you survived!

Didn't anyone ever tell you never to wear a red shirt when SPACE ADVENTURE is involved? Especially if you're only going to be in-frame for a few moments?

And tonight I have received signals from the LRO, after aeveral failed attempts.

Signals coming from orbit around the Moon, received with an antenna on the balcony ... not bad for "long distance" ...

The first images from LRO are in: check out LRO's first images article or the press release and you can get high resolution images from LROC.

Meanwhile, I've been also supporting GOES-O which launched Saturday night.
