Do it! They're both fantastic! I just got into fables myself now as well.

Since Devil's Due lost the rights to publish GI Joe earlier this year I haven't purchased any comics. Back in the late 90s, early 00s I'd spend $30-$40 per week. And it was worth every dime. In boxes, I have almost every issue of Batman's Cataclysm and Aftershock storyline and maybe half of No Man's Land. Now they're out in TPB. That's what I do these days...wait until a story arc is done, read reviews and purchase the TPB if it sounds good.

Some of my favorites from the past:

      Hitman
      Major Bummer
      H.A.R.D. Corps
      X-Men titles
      Batman titles
      JLA
      JLA: Year One

Admittedly, not much of a Marvel fan.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Just wanted to chime in and agree with a couple of posters on the genius of Fables. I have the first two trade paperbacks now and can't wait to get more.

I just started reading the third. The guy at the shop told me to get the first two because "the first wasn't all that great" but I couldn't disagree more. I thought the first one was excellent. For those who don't know, basically the concept is all of the fairy tale people like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, etc. are all real and living in the world and are immortals who have kinda set up shop in a part of the city and are trying to stay low key. They've all got real life problems, some bigger than others, and it's very adult. Wouldn't let a kid read this one. It's interesting.

I only collect trades anymore. I just don't have the shelf space for single issues in my tiny house.

I read Fables (have all 11 trades) and its spin-off, Jack of Fables. Fables is truly awesome.

I also collect IDW's Star Trek and Transformers lines, Zenescopes "Grimm Fairy Tales" (not for children!) Marvel's "Exiles," and one or two other series as the fancy strikes me.

I'm a huge fan of alternate histories, so whenever a book or comic comes out that concerns that (like "What if?" or "Elseworlds" or miniseries like "Ministry of Space" or "Storming Paradise") I'm almost certain to buy it.

I bought a few issues of Peter David's New Frontier series, but was disappointed with it. I am so sick of the mirror universe.
