"--A MMA show in Digbeth (near Birmingham), England, called UK Storm at the Sanctuary night club, which was almost sold out, was banned yesterday by the City council. Council leader Sir Albert Bore said the licensing office had told them the show was going to be a wrestling contest. Action was taken after the Birmingham Evening Mail earlier yesterday ran a story where the British Medical Association called for MMA to be banned because it could lead to brain injury or death. This would have been the first MMA show ever in Birmingham. UFC ran a successful event a few years back in London at Royal Albert Hall."

the B.M.A. (British Medical Association) have been saying the same about boxing as well, so it`s possible.

Wrestling, uhhh. Just as soon watch that trash than migrate with the wildebeests. Talk about appealing to the lowest common denominator, I despise the people who play upon gross, animal bloodlust.

Intellectual snobbery aside, MMA is not wrestling per se...in actuality, it is real wrestling. Mixed Martial Arts. UFC, Pride, all that jazz. I think gladiator combat is very significant to the human species as entertainment. It's probably the oldest sport and has endured for millenia. It shouldn't be banned, I know that. It's not like we're throwing people to the lions. Japan probably has the best MMA and fighting promotions overall.
