  • JJ Abrams new tv show -- Fringe

I just saw a trailer for this new TV series called "Fringe" on FOX. Can't quite tell what it's about, but there was mention of some sci-fi themes. Anyone know anything more about this one?

I remember the show when it was called "X-Files".

But seriously, I'm more interested in this one than Whedon's show, which sounds like a cross between Alias and his usual Buffy stuff which has grown wearisome over time.

Funny, I feel the opposite way around. I find it odd how many people are denouncing Dollhouse as unoriginal or a ripoff of something-or-other - I find the concept of blank-slate automaton agents with one-use personalities and identities programmed into them quite cool and fresh.

Same here. I'm not convinced it'll be good - worried it'll be too much like BSG in tone, "pretentious dark" - but I loved Firefly and I think this has plenty of potential.

I'm personally very excited about both of these shows! The FRINGE script was the subject of a bidding war because it's supposedly so good and Dollhouse bring Whedon back to TV! I cannot wait! I only hope they both survive the FOX axe and are allowed to grow.

The first review of the pilot is out. "Not so good."

              Except it's Whedon doing it.

I like Whedon's stuff, for the most part, but let's be honest, the guy's got a style that he basically just duplicates with each project, and over time I'm seriously beginning to grow tired of it.
