  • Polls

Love them or hate them we to some degree are always seeing polls and they play a large part in our lives. There has been a lot of press about the failure of polls in the Primaries most note ability in New Hampshire. Now as a poltical junkie I spend more time than is good for me looking at polls I know they all have there issues but some times you just want a feel for things and thats the best way to get it.

This brings me to the Blog today by Jay Cost of Real Clear Politics. The gist of the blog is that some of the reason why primary polls are so lacking is because in a general election 90% of people vote more towards one party or another. And that includes people who call themselves independences. Truth is they are really more soft Republicans or Soft Democrats soft here meaning that they vote for that party without being a member of it.

Anyways the point he makes is most people don't pay that much attention to the finer points of platform of the people they vote for but rather just vote for the party. So since in primaries that doesn't really come into play its a lot harder to get the pluses of the voters.

There is a lot more to it than what I have said here but its all in the article. It is very readable and suggest you all check out I kind would like to hear what you all think. Polls aren't perfects but they are part of our lives I think we should talk about this. Also if you want to get outside of the poltics and the roles of polls go for it.

Polls are a good way to find out which politicians have actual principles, and which are simply public-opinion windsocks. Other than that I don't have much use for them.

What was that line about the Polls showing Clark's Martial law decree being popular with the voters, because it cut crime?

What the polls really tell me is how effective Dan Randall is being today.

Didn't he get fired for having fake documents relating to Clark's national guard service?
