  • Blade Runner: The Final Cut

    Hi,

We've had the Final Cut on sale here for about 2 weeks now, but I noticed you guys over the pond didn't get it until yesterday... !

Anyway, I've been checking out the trailers for it on YouTube:

I'm keen to know your opinion on this new release - it does look substantially different from the others ... but is it really definitive??

    Thanks!

    It's certainly the most tidy.

The Zhora stunt double now has Joanna Cassidy's face, the dove now flies off into the same pollutant choked sky seen in the rest of the film, the unicorn scene now fits perfectly.

It's not very different from the earlier Director's Cut but it's worth having if you haven't already paid for that version.
I have the wings for Bingo.

Hopefully, I'll be able to add my thoughts after Christmas...

I saw the new credit sequence on YouTube.

I definately have a preference for the new ones over the old ones.

If I'm right it shows drawings of biblical and classical scenes ...? Doesn't it change the philosophy of hte film quite a bit?!

It's a fan version. I have the 5 disc set with the Final Cut and all the other versions of Blade Runner. These titles do not appear on the DVD.

It's still interesting though, and I wouldn't mind seeing a version of this with Vangelis' music

If it isn't definitive then movie studios don't know what definitive is...

I would say that if you get this version then you can feel confident that you don't need to buy any other version in any foreseeable future.

Here's a very nice review about this release:

I bought it (Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD, the packaging and memorabilia are beautiful, but not essential), but haven't had time to watch it, I'm getting antsy about it let me tell you...

I'm glad you told me that Will, I would have made an assumption otherwise.

Although, reading through that review does make me want to buy it ...

Haven't watched it yet, got the five edition tin recently (for รบ18!) but watched my favourite version first, the 1992 Directors Cut.
