    So who watches British TV?

Some of my favorite shows include Foyle's War, Doctor Who, Yes Minister and for purposes of pure fun I watch MI-5 and Robin Hood. Oh, and Mr. Bean.

Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.

Not MI-5, you mean Spooks. That the name across the pond. MI-5 is the American name.

I can see why they'd rename it.

I've been watching Robin Hood if I happen across it when it's on and I've seen a couple of episodes of Hotel Babylon but not enough to know what all the relationships are yet. Still watching Dr. Who.

Episode eight of Doctor Who just aired, with episode nine held up for a week for Labor Day weekend. I would recommend that my fellow American fans wait for the complete DVD set, which is being released in November. The Sci Fi versions are trimmed to fit into the shorter time slot, not to mention the staggeringly distracting on-screen idents that have become part and parcel of the NBC/Universal channels. There's nothing more annoying than getting to a particularly dramatic scene only to have the bottom third of your TV screen co-opted by an ad for 'Who Wants to be a Superhero.'

For Anglophiles, I would heartily recommend Jekyll, which just finished on BBC America and is about to be released here on DVD. I'm still very much on the fence about Torchwood, which begins its run on BBC America next week.

I'll be watching Torchwood. Captain Jack is too great of a character to miss. Unless they warp his character on the show...

Also, episode 8 of which season of Doctor Who...? We've already had the first and second seasons released on DVD.

They did. Torchwood is a totally different SciFi universe from Doctor Who but cross linking them is a good marketing gimmick.

It's a period piece about a detective who wants to go to war (WW2), but he gets stuck doing detective work. Oddly, most of his cases involve the war in some way, whether it's dealing with Nazi sympathizers, war profiteers, etc. His son is a fighter pilot, he has a young female driver whom he develops a father-daughter type relationship with and there are several other characters. I've never heard anybody say anything bad about the show. The only negative is the price of the DVDs.

Here are some nice pictures from the successful world record attempt at trying to get as many people dressed as Daleks together in one place.

                      Some are rather sweet.

Though it has to be said a couple look more like Vorlons than Daleks.

oh good lord, who knew that many people had dalek outfits, and good ones at that, right down to the originals with the powerdisks on the backend.

It appears the Dalek Builders Guild were in evidence that day.

Though the more fun ones were the more home grown (cobbled together) costumes.

The girls with the colanders on their heads (and an egg whisk and a sink plunger in each hand) really weren't trying hard enough.

Living in Britain, I too watch British TV but most of it isn't that good. Spooks is the cream of UKTV imho being superb but most are not that great compared to the likes of B5, Farscape, The X-files , Space Above & Beyond , & Firefly and other US drama shows. Dr who's hit & miss imho, Torchwood's just plain awful. I like Primeval though.

I have to agree with Andrew Swallow the writers of Torchwood did manage to mess up such a great character. He's nothing like the Captain Jack from season one of Dr Who... Dr Who season three spoiler highlight to read... Strangely when he returns to Dr Who at the end of the season 3 it was Captain Jack as we remeber him, if Torchwood had never happened. I wonder which Captain Jack will return to Torchwood for S2?
