I just heard of this, it's a "broadcast quality" online tv series, which has Stargate's Amanda Tapping, as well as a number of the crew from that show. It's directed by Martin Wood who had a hand in Jeremiah also.

It looks very horror-ish from the trailer. Has anyone heard anything good/bad about this? It seems interesting.

Heard *of* it, but never checked it out.

I mean, I happen to like Amanda Tapping, but that doesn't preclude her committing to a train wreck.

Checked bits of the site... and well, it looks like they're trying, even if I think they have too many rainy shots. And that's more than most do.

Maybe I'll be a guinea pig later and pony up the two bucks.

EDIT - Oh, and yeah, it's kinda wierd that that guy is cast to the Stargate Daniel look. I had to look three times to confirm it wasn't Michael Shanks. Although I also swear I saw David Hewlett in there (McKay). Effort or no, they may be trying to channel something that isn't theirs.

I watched the first 4 episodes since they were free and it's not bad for what it is. There is lots of greenscreen work and the over all arc of the show needs to be fleshed out a bit more but it has promise. And yes that was David Hewlett you saw, along with Maj. Lorne from SG:A

I tried to buy the HD versions of the eps.
The euro cost was more than the numeric $ cost.
              LEt me clarify
I have just added the 1-4 and 5 to 8 webisode HD bundles to my cart - cost on web site is $17.50 (which is around 12 euro).
When I go to paypal to pay for it, they charge me 22.50 (in euro )
from what I can see there is a mathematical error going on here. Rather than multiplying by the exchange rate (1 usd=77.66 euro giving 12.70) they've divded by it instead, then rounded up.
so, can someone please please explain to me why the eps cost more to downlaod when I try and do it legally?
I don't want to ibttorrent, I want the eps, I Can afford the ps (hell 12.70 would barely get me a meal in a reasonably priced cafe here) but SfA (website Sanctuary for All) don't seem to want to encourage me to buy the,
I've tried communicating this to them, no response on email.
A quick rummage on the forums has revealed they use the "itunes pricing model" which means (basically) dientical product, delivered in idendtical fashion costs more dependign on where you donwload it from.
I'm going to ask a friend of mine in the states to buy the eps for me, then I'll paypal them the money.

Okay, I watched the first four now. Here's my spoilerless mini-review:

First ep.. icouldn't figure out what was going on so much, it was confusing. Felt like they just jumped into too much.

Second, I started to figure out who the characters were, and it was becoming more interesting. I still don't get why everyone is doing what they're doing, but I hope I'll figure that out soon enough.

Third, much more of a cohesive plot is beginning to develop. Very exciting. Still have the same problem of "Why is all this going on?" There's a little cgi piece in this that bugs the crap out of me in a car scene, but the rest is pretty good.

Four really is a nice wrapup. Looks like it's going in 4 episode cycles, though I think it is going to be one big story arc. I really like how it wrapped up and I understand it all better now, might watch the first one again to see if I can pick up something better out of it. Definitely just gets you to the point where you want to know what happens so you buy the next one.

You guys watch it all yet?

I'll try and catch some of it this week. Presuming my own time is left to me.

LOL..yeah, it's not amazing, but it's good. I'd say a 7/10. I may be giving a little bit of credit for trying to do something that hasn't ben done before, though. Keep in mind that this *is* a pilot, so I"m sure it'll get better from here.

rant hereby withdrawn with full apologies.
I was chatting with a friend last night about him downloading the episodes for me, burning them onto a disc and sending them to me (I would pay him he would pay them and if he wanted a copy as well I'd asked him to buy hos own, not encouraging illegal duplication here).
However I logged on to the site and found out the had ifxed the problem .
The two HD bundles were available for a total cost of $17.50, first 8 eps.
I've bought and paid for them and am downloading at the mo, alas my poor little 2.0Ghz windows machine can't quite handle the 335MEg HD eps so I'm going to put them on my portable HDD and move them downstairs to the much beefier 3.2Ghz machine which should handle stuff a little better.
Since there are 8 eps once I've watched them all I'll record a podcast about them.

OK, paid for the first hit...

                        ... and it ain't bad.

I don't like that I can pick out every single virtual set they use, but that may be my over-amped-tech-brain going mental on me. The quality of it is rather good, it's just the staging of it that feels... off.

I like the opening. Sets a history and a mystery, and a villain, and a not quite heroine. I like that they're setting up this early, even if I don't know where all the threads go yet.

I like that our good(?) doctor is Britishish, and mysterious-ish. And our other headliner SG alum was a good psycho too. They play well, against their grain, and my fears of this being Stargate: Vampire Edition are quite gone.

I forgive a few awkward transitions and cuts, some of which are kind of overcompensating for their virtualizing. Finding their feet I guess.

I don't like that this is all my two bucks gets (I have no idea what earlier poster is saying about eps being free, cuz I can't find anything but previews). Regular tv downloads go, what, 40 bucks a season, makes it 2 dollars for 45 minutes? Here, it's 2 for 15. That's an annoyance, what you get with somebody trying something new, but hopefully one they can get fix eventually as they get better at what they do.

So on an average ranking of familiarly modern magical shows... on mere potential, until I've seen the rest... well above Charmed... above recent Dead Zone... slightly below Witchblade, when Witchblade didn't suck.

EDIT - I'll probably get the rest of it next week sometime.

                              Radhill,
                              hot what I mean.
IF you click on your libary page there is a link (underneath the epsidoe download) for extras (kinda like dvd extras).
I had some slight issues with the d/load last night but I'm downloading the extras for EP 1 now.
OK they are scenes without the visual effects in the background, santuary are suggesting you add your own and they'll post the best ones (presumbably the extras for ep 2).
                              hmm
                              interactive TV.
