Yikes...This movie's going to be a tough one to make well. I'll keep a skeptical eye on it.

I don't know. I mean, it's my favourite SF-book of the last quarter century but they will have one Hell of a job on their hands getting it right. Especially getting the right actor to play Ender and Peter.

Oh, and PLEASE don't cast Daniel Radcliffe...

Orson Card has repeatedly said that the children MUST be the ages they are in the books
therefore radcliffe can't even be peter

Yeah, many problems here. First of all, Wolfgang Peterson. What a smuck! He's going to ruin Ender! I have no faith in him.

The only hope I have for the script is that Card penned it himself. However, that being said, novelists do not always good screenwriters make...in fact, rarely. But if anyone knows how to boil Ender down to a 2 hour film, it would be Card. (BTW, he's been pedaling this script around the Holly-land for many, many years).

Lastly, I am currently re-reading Ender's Game due to this news and still cannot for the life of me figure out how in hell they're gonna make this a film. It's too complex, to mental, to hard to find even 2 child actors who could pull off these characters (much less a decent director who can direct kids properly), and there are obviously elements that will have to be changed that are at least to some degree important moments in the torment of Ender and that Ender shows as a commander, etc...such as, oh....I don't know...kids running around naked (as they are much of the time in the first half of this book). Yeah, that'll have to be re-thunk....hmmm. Yeah, I'm a filmmaker and I just don't see how this one's gonna fly.

Some novels just weren't meant to be films unless brilliant filmmakers are doing them...and even then...some should be left as books (for example: The Foundation Series -- the ones by Asimov not those pieces of sh*t by Gregory Benford and his "co-writers" that tried to change Asimov's universe).

From what I recall, Card has written a few scripts for games and such, so while he doesn't have something put in front of a camera (that I know of) he does have some experience in creating scenes.

his original experiance was play witing and had several performed.
the problem with writihng a script for ender was that untill he wrote ender's shadow it never made sense with all the internal dialoge in ender's game, adding bean's story allows that interal dialoge to beomce external

The BBC turned the Foundation books into a series of radio plays. I enjoyed them. They get repeated occasionally.

Asimov himself was the first one to change his Universe. The whole idea of linking the robot series in prequels and sequels came from Asimov.
The Benford, Brin and Bear Foundation trilogy was based on Asimov's notes, or at least had the supervision and blessing of Asimov's state, and it filled in some gaps left by Asimov in his attempt to join Robots and Foundation.
Frankly, I think the Asimov penned sequels to Foundation are worse than the Benford, Brin, Bear trilogy.

Now, regarding the Ender movie, I'm looking forward to it.
But I'm not holding my hopes too high, it's been in the works for many years.
I won't even believe it will get made even if it starts filming (getting started to shut down would only be another in a line of mishaps for this movie), only once it's in post-production I'll believe.

BTW, I also think that joining Ender and Bean's stories can make it work better as a film.

For the official status of this film I've checked the following page infrequently:

Given the past history of official status announcements, I expect to hear confirmation that it's finally been filmed by 2008 at the earliest.

I read a few of the Robot novels in junior high for book reports, but I never read any Foundation. I remember enjoying Lije Bailey and R. Daneel Olivaw.

                      Anybody ever seen this?

The Caves of Steel: Directed by Peter Sasdy. With Peter Cushing, John Carson, Kenneth J. Warren, Stanley Walsh. In the future New York City, the Deputy Commissioner of Police is assisted by a robot detective in solving the murder of a scientist.
Recently, there was a reckoning. It occurred on November 4, 2014 across the United States. Voters, recognizing the failures of the current leadership and fearing their unchecked abuses of power, elected another party as the new majority. This is a first step toward preventing more damage and undoing some of the damage already done. Hopefully, this is as much as will be required.
